Aarhus School of Architecture is an independent institution under the Danish Ministry of Higher Education and Science. We offer an academic education centred around three approaches to architecture: an artistic, a scientific, and a practice-based. We are rooted in a Scandinavian architectural tradition, and our work is based on the vision Engaging Through Architecture. We strive to train versatile architects who can help develop tomorrow’s physical environment.
We provide teaching at Bachelor, Master and PhD level within architecture and areas related to the architectural profession. We also offer a range of continuing education and specialised courses aimed at qualified architects, designers, etc.
Teaching at the school is facilitated through students’ design projects. All projects receive individual supervision, and we stress the importance of close dialogue between teachers and students. We teach our students to master space, form, and composition and they acquire a thorough understanding of materiality. Our students benefit from first-class workshop facilities comprising a wide range of fabrication tools.
The school’s research is about using architecture to engage in the development of our physical environment. The school’s researchers explore new technologies and focus on sustainability, transformation, and habitation. Our goal is that our research should benefit both society as a whole and us as individuals. Our researchers work project-oriented and use the innovation-driven research method research by design.
The school is internationally oriented and has good connections with the world’s best architectural communities. Our cooperation includes exchange programmes, traineeships, visiting professorships, lectures and joint studios.
Aarhus School of Architecture is the first school of architecture in Scandinavia to receive the approval of The Royal Institute of British Architects. Following an evaluation process of almost three years, the RIBA committee has completed their final visit to the school with the announcement that our Master’s degree programme will be validated unconditionally.

Thank you once again for doing your part to keep Edarabia the most trusted education source.
Great school. Lots of technical and artistic experience being charged into the students. Ranges from large-scale city/landscape architecture all the way down to design. Great workshops, studios and actually a great semi public canteen.
