With its 4000 students and 350 staff/faculty members, Volda University College is the largest institution of higher education between Bergen and Trondheim. Volda is known for its active student environment and the university college is also known for the top study programmes in media and journalism, as well as, long traditions for teacher training.

Offer solid Master's programmes for primary and secondary school teachers and be the main supplier of teachers to the region. Be the leading professional media education in Norway. Take a special responsibility for scientific research in the Nynorsk language and literature and ensure Nynorsk as a professional language - all this in collaboration with the University of Bergen, Nynorsk Kultursentrum and Nasjonalt senter for nynorsk i opplæringa. The International Office oversees VUC agreements and participation in international programmes such as Erasmus+. It also coordinates incoming and outgoing student/staff mobility. In addition, the International Office has developed the international meeting place Pangaia and offers a wide variety of extra-curricular activities for incoming students.

Volda University College is renowned for its international activity and high number of students studying abroad. Approximately 20% of graduates from VUC's study programmes have studied or trained abroad for more than 3 months, placing VUC in the top 5 among universities and colleges in Norway.
