The strategic goal of the IKBFU is to increase and secure competitiveness in the national and global markets of university education and R&D through developing competences in new areas and activities in line with the breakthrough achievements in the field of biomedical, neuro-, nanotechnology as well as in social sciences and the humanities.
The University mission is to develop into a national leader in three interdisciplinary areas based on breakthrough achievements in biotechnologies and neurotechnologies; materials science and nanotechnology; information and communication technologies; to become a trendsetter in technology; to train internationally competitive professionals. The three interdisciplinary areas make it possible to integrate all competitive areas developing at the IKBFU as a classical university. Innovative results have been achieved in these areas. The University mission is to represent and transfer best Russian practices of education, research and culture to Europe, and to increase international competitiveness of the Kaliningrad region by building up intellectual, scientific and technological capacity to transform the region’s economic and social life. To carry out this mission, the University will become a center of world-class education and research, a source of innovations for the Russian Federation and Baltic macroregion. The University is named after Immanuel Kant, not only as an honour to the great philosopher, but also shaping the prism through which we look at the world.
