The University has strong links to the local community and looks to the future through its constant strengthening of the link between courses offered and the world of work. In the immediate future, one of the University’s principle objectives is to continue with its building programme in order to create an improved and welcoming environment.

The University of Verona was founded in 1982 and is divided into four areas and fifteen departments. The University of Verona has two principal sites: - the Veronetta site, including the central administration, the Rector’s office, and the departments in the areas of Humanities, and Economics and Law. - the Borgo Roma site, including the departments in the areas of Life Sciences, and Science and Engineering. The Department of Law is in the Cittadella area, and the Department of Neurological, Neuropsychological, Morphological and Motor Sciences is in Borgo Venezia. The University also has a number of secondary sites in nearby towns: courses are taught in Legnago (VR), Vicenza, Bolzano, Trento, Ala (TN), Rovereto (TN) and Canazei (TN).

The University of Verona is divided into Departments through which it performs its institutional teaching and research roles as well as conducting activities in cooperation with external entities. The departments within the Life Sciences macro area link together the departments of Medicine and Surgery.

The University Library System is divided into two main areas: Humanities-Economics-Law and Medicine-Science-Technology. The University library catalogue (OPAC) contains details of all volumes kept in the 2 central and 36 departmental libraries, and services are automated through the SAB system. Traditional and online materials in the collections of other libraries in the town are included in the main catalogue.
