We are extremely proud to introduce you to our university; we provide an interesting and very open institution with modern, relevant and practical courses set in a friendly, relaxed and safe environment surrounded by a stunning natural landscape.

Our modern campus is a great learning environment; it is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and excellent technological support. We strive to make our students’ time here as productive, creative and exciting as possible and as a result, they are highly satified by their educational experience. Our graduates leave with excellent employment prospects equipping them for future success in their chosen careers and are extremely sought after by local, national and international companies.

Indeed, we have a strong reputation for our quality of education and are nationally ranked as one of the best universities of applied sciences in Germany.

The Deggendorf Institute of Technology (DIT) strives for academic excellence and indeed ranks among the best universities of applied sciences in Germany. Founded in 1994, it is a young, modern and excellently equipped university offering relevant and practical courses set in a friendly, relaxed and safe environment. DIT supports its students with many facilities, such as various student clubs, an extensive sports programme, and a competent and always helpful International Office, Career Service and Child Care Centre. It is the perfect environment for students to shape their futures and move forward into academic success.

More than 6000 students, almost 15% of which are internationals, study a range of Bachelor and Master courses taught in English or German. All our courses are officially accredited by FIBAA and ASIIN according to international standards.

DIT is committed to producing global graduates with international degrees: 180 partner universities around the world provide students with many opportunities to gain experience and earn credits towards their degree through foreign exchange semesters, internships and double-degree studies abroad. Additionally, great value is placed in German language training which is tremendously beneficial for international students, helping them integrate easily into the Bavarian lifestyle.

The university focuses on three disciplines: firstly, full-time education; secondly, applied research & development and thirdly, further education. The focus of the full-time education offers is on bachelor and master courses, whilst in applied research & development, a vast range of research topics lead to practical, scientific solutions that are used to develop new, marketable products, processes and services. In fact, many doctoral students are engaged in cooperative PhD programmes in this important field. Finally, further education is organized by the Further Education Centre; these courses are geared towards students who work full-time whilst pursuing further education to further their careers.

In comparison to city universities, DIT is a relatively compact campus, which is exactly what creates such a familiar and comfortable atmosphere for staff and students. Lecture theatres, labs and workshops are in close proximity, encouraging engineering, business and media students to mingle with science, nursing and international management students. Parking is available on campus (in pay and free car parks) and pedestrian and cycle paths link college to town.

The DIT campus is located next to the beautiful river Danube and is conveniently within easy walking distance of Deggendorf's town centre. Deggendorf is an affluent, lively, multicultural and diverse town set in Bavaria, southern Germany, only a 1-hour drive away from the city of Munich. It enjoys an outstandigly low unemployment rate and has excellent public transport links including an international airport nearby. The surrounding landscape of rolling hills provides a stunning picturesque backdrop to enjoy the vast selection of recreational activities available.

The research and development activities of the Deggendorf Institute of Technology are characterized by the diversity that also characterizes the academic teaching spectrum of the university.

Application-oriented research and an active knowledge and technology transfer are mandatory for updating the teaching in terms of modern, rapid scientific and technological progress. For our students, these activities are therefore essential in terms of quality of education. At the same time, successful collaberation of the university with the free economy in externally funded research projects, reflects the handling of application-oriented challenges, especially in medium-sized industries.

Research at the Deggendorf Institute of Technology is practical, professional and is focused on specific career fields and challenges in the professional world.

The Deggendorf Institute of Technology is a member of the European University Association (EUA), a representative organization of European research universities.

We pride ourselves in providing our students with a great learning environment in our modern campus, which is equipped with excellent state-of-the-art facilities and located in a safe, friendly, relaxed and cosmopolitan setting. We offer a large range of degree courses that are relevant to modern global businesses and industries, and support services on campus that we believe are outstanding.

Over 10 per cent of our students are global internationals, and we pride ourselves in supplying them with an ideal campus enviroment to make their time as productive, creative and exciting as possible.

The orientation week and Intensive German prep courses are for international students every semester, during Orientation Week approx. one week before semester start. In these 2 weeks, all formalities such as registering in the town council, getting a visa, obtaining health insurance, receiving a guided tour of the campus, etc. are completed. We also organize social activities during Orientation Week: a pub crawl, day trips, Bavarian evening, and lots more.
