The Catholic University of Korea is a private Roman Catholic institution of higher education in South Korea. It was established in 1855 and is the oldest university in South Korea. The Catholic University of Korea operates campuses in Seoul and in the neighboring Bucheon City. The university's medical school, considered as one of the most prestigious in South Korea, has eight affiliated hospitals in major cities of the country.

The university has been consistently ranked as one of the premier universities in South Korea and has been regarded in both national and international university rankings. The Catholic University was ranked 400 - 500 in QS World University Rankings 2016/17.

The university has a policy of "inbound globalization", requiring all freshmen to live in the English language dormitory which can accommodate 1,200 students and professors. Residents are encouraged to communicate only in English during the program, which usually runs for a whole semester. In accordance with the "inbound globalization" policy, the university is equipped with faculty members with esteemed academic backgrounds; professors, professionals, and researchers from the United States, United Kingdom,Singapore, Canada, China, Germany, and Japan, among others.

Our university is facing challenges including the declining school-age population. Nevertheless, we are ready to meet any challenge in order to support our university as it trains human resources for the future of Korea. For this, I will always remember Father Maubant who sent the three students to Macau despite difficulties.

Our students are the future of university and Korea. As part of national treasury projects, we are currently carrying out the Advancement of College Education(ACE) project and University for Creative Korea(CK) project. Such projects will enable our university to teach better and educate better.

Our university boasts its liberal arts education. Consequently, while our students become experts in their own fields, they learn to care about others and help those in need. Equipped with the moral sense and right values, they know how to acknowledge their fault and forgive others. They also learn to be humble and to know who they are. Meanwhile, they actively communicate with others and value friendship. They are fluent in at least one foreign language so they are confident anywhere in the world. As they love philosophy, arts and literature, they understand the meaning of life and enjoy their life.

Today's world is characterized by its fierce competition in the context of neoliberalism and materialism. Although we cannot avoid such competition, we can make the world a better place by working together and sharing great values with each other. That's the wisdom we are willing to give to our students.

We aim to reach out to young people who have great potential. Not only do we consider entrance exam results, our admissions system looks at community service and other special abilities to seek individuals with talent. As a leader in alternative admissions policies, our school looks within each individual applicant and stands by our principles of 'human dignity.'

A major seminary to train pastors for the Catholic Archdiocese of Seoul. It is called the Holy Spirit Campus of Catholic University. The site is a fairly large area in Naksan, but from the outside it is next to the Hyehwa-dong Cathedral.Since only the entrance is exposed, most people don't even know there is a school there. Since it has been here for a long time, there are many old and charming trees on campus.Except for seminary students and students on the campus, access is permitted only on a very limited basis.

It is the fifth spot of 'Seoul Pilgrimage' route. Pilgrims can enter the campus with a card issued by the security at the gate. The church on campus has the holy remain of Kim Taegon, the first Korean-born Catholic priest and the patron saint of Korea.
