Chonnam National University(CNU) was established in 1952 under the idea of ‘Save the Nation through Education’. We are proud of our glorious achievement in fulfilling the mission irrespective of all the challenges for the past 65 years.‘Truth, Creativity, Service’ is the founding spirit of CNU, being the basis of fostering academics, educating talented students, and contributing to the prosperity of the nation as well as the local community.
The founding idea of Chonnam National University is to foster future leaders of noble character as well as profound knowledge in professional fields and who will be able to contribute to the development of the nation and the world. The motto of Chonnam National University is truth, creativity, and service. This motto is focused on the functions of university, i.e. pursuit of truth which is the fundamental responsibility of ivory tower, succession of traditional culture and creation of new culture, and provision of leading services to the development of the local community. Since CNU was founded thanks to the local residents' encouragement and support and has been expected to contribute to the prosperity of the local community, such motto has been more emphasized.
Also, guided by the light of ‘justice and conscience’, CNU assumes the unforgettable position in the development of democracy, helping Korea cherish the precious value of ‘democracy, human rights, and peace’. ‘Pride & Hope’ will be the words to symbolize our historic achievements, blossoming in the hearts of the family of CNU and the people of the local community.
Let us endeavor to pursue truth and create new knowledge for the world of ‘harmony and happiness’, carrying on consistent efforts in the progress of science and technology in the age of the fourth industrial revolution which will change the human society in a dramatic way. Any need of researchers will be keenly attended with various kinds of positive assistance, helping CNU be a ‘Global Research Hub’, where research projects with world-level-recognition are performed and researchers work and collaborate lively and energetically.
Our students will be fostered and trained to be the leaders of creative capability and intelligence, required in the 21st century. Facing the issues of the times, we are going to find insights and the right way and provide them for our society. Most of all, we will do our best in the efforts to fulfill the mission of conscientious intellectuals in a polite and respectful manner.
Also, hand in hand with the local community, we will approach them closely with an open mind. The CNU tree is the zelkoba, the symbol of tenacious vitality, unlimited potentiality and lenient richness. It may look prettier because it is your alma mater haha. The place with the most beautiful sunset is ‘Yongji’, close to the back gate, and the great places to lay down a mat and play are the main playground and ‘Bongji’. I love that there are so many trees everywhere …

This is my alma mater that I love. It has a comfortable and spacious campus that is great for taking a walk. On a nice day, it's perfect for a date if you eat dessert at Twosome and take a walk around Yongji. The night view of the lake is so pretty. You can meet duck friends during the day.
As expected from a national university, there are three libraries built, but the Central Library is open to the private sector, so come and borrow books!!!!! Anyone can eat Haksik if they pay enough money, and Haksik at the College of Engineering cafeteria is delicious haha. The photo is from the library.

Perhaps because it's Sunday, there are a lot of people exercising at the sports complex, so it's nice to see, and I think I've used the track on the playground as an aerobic exercise. People playing basketball, couples walking around the playground, couples on dates, and families. It was really nice to see them laughing and talking. Now, I think I'll do some exercise every day at Jeondae Sports Complex.

I went to Gwangju to watch the Kia Games and went to Chonnam National University near my accommodation, and the walking path was nice.

It's good to exercise in the main playground at night, and the campus is pretty, so it's good to take a walk around the entire school^^On weekends, many families come to the playground, bag, and paper area.
The commercial areas such as Jeondae Back Gate, Main Gate, and Sangdae are diverse and very nice.

This is the best university in gwangju, jollanam-do, south korea. If you are a traveler and planning to visit gwangju, u should come this university for a day trip. It is so beautiful in every season.

Chonnam National University offers a green space in the middle of the city. As the best university in Honam, Campos is also a cradle of learning with beautiful, antique and modern buildings surrounded by tall trees and forests.
