Catholic University of Pusan

In 1964, the school started with only one Department which was Nursing, but our university has grown remarkably over the past 50 years and has expanded to include 5 colleges and 19 departments.Since the establishment of the Catholic University of Pusan in 1964,

University is founded and operated by Catholic Diocese of Busan to produce leaders contributing for the salvation of mankind. The goal of establishment of our university differs from other universities. Unlike the others, our university students will advance in society with the lesson of love and service obtained through the courses.

University have provided the nation with high quality professionals skilled in nursing and healthcare. We have also fostered professionals in the field of environment, IT, management, and social work which are essential in maintaining modern society. In addition, we have also trained Catholic priests who pursue salvation of mankind through the Catholic belief.

Recently, reduction in the student population is pushing many universities to the wall. There will be situation whereby universities would randomly admit students including those who are not capable. So our school has to agonize about which student is outstanding and which student we can admit. Most universities use examination scores as a criterion to determine students but CUP will produce students who are suitable for the society without looking only at the scores. University have an exceptional university visions in order to satisfy demand of the society. It is called CUP Action Plan. Based on the CUP Action Plan, the necessary foundations for advancement was to complete by 2014. University have achieved this plan over 100%.

The years from 2015 to 2019 will mark the start of the second stage in our CUP Action Plan to be a leader of the community. ‘Raphael Senior Daycare Center’, ‘Speech and Hearing Clinical Center’ and ‘Busan Metropolitan Hospice Palliative Center’ contribute in producing competent people to which the community is looking forward. Interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary fusion will be one of the forces to train talented intellectuals. This stage is to sprout global leaders to all over the world including international organization through developing concurrently proceeded programs such as ‘Overseas Language Training Program’, ‘Overseas Volunteers Program’, ‘Overseas Cultural Explore Program’, ‘Global Elite Program’, ‘Overseas Clinical Training Program’, and ‘Overseas Internship Program’. In the near future it will be easy to see CUP graduates work all over the world.
