Welcome to Babington House School The boys and girls who come to Babington House School receive a first-class education and enjoy coming to school. With a school roll of just over 470, every pupil from 3 to 18 years old is able to make the most of our bespoke approach to education,  grow in confidence and maturity and make close friendships. We develop their daring and wisdom so they can discover their individuality and become the very best that they can be.

Enjoying a peaceful setting in west Chislehurst, being only 3 minutes walk from Elmstead Woods Station and within easy reach of Central London, Babington House School has a long and fascinating past.

The school was founded in 1887 in North Park, Eltham, by Madame Rossel, a distinguished Belgian lady who was particularly interested in fostering the arts for 'young ladies and small boys'.  Among her friends was Lord Thomas Babington Macaulay, the great Victorian writer and politician, whose family name, Babington, was adopted as the name of the School.

With supportive parental loyalty, the school moved to Chislehurst in 1959 and has since been administered as an educational charity by a board of Governors. The present building has long been associated with the family name Bilbrough, known as Elmstead Grange.

We select children on their academic ability and potential, as well as personal qualities. Once at Babington, they are encouraged to surpass their own expectations. We encourage a love of learning for its own sake as well as preparing our pupils for the highly competitive nature of the universities they move on to.

Our academic, social and sporting endeavours are underpinned by core Christian values which include a respect for others and an awareness of a purpose greater than ourselves.
