At Upton Primary school we believe that every child deserves a big future. Together, we aim to teach our children that they can achieve their very best in everything they do and that hard work and determination are the keys to success in life. We encourage one another to understand that diversity is to be celebrated both on our doorstep and beyond and that our community and future is firmly built on the values that we have chosen.

We know that all children need to feel happy and safe both in and out of school and take pride in the manner in which we behave to one another.We look outwardly in our pursuit of improvement and believe that collaboration with other schools, parents and providers will bring new opportunities for our children. We are seeking new, innovative ways of learning while remembering that the past can teach us much. We are building a new curriculum that must engage, interest and excite, whilst giving every child the skills and understanding that will underpin their future choices in learning and life.

With an eye to the future we understand that we and our children live in a rapidly changing world. We embrace change for the better and challenge ourselves to create an excellent education for every child, while remembering to have fun along the way.

Upton is a school embracing new challenges in a realistic but innovative way. We are striving to improve the curriculum in a creative way, improving the teaching and learning for our pupils and improving the environment.

Upton School aims to provide a secure, happy and welcoming environment for pupils, staff, parents and visitors alike. Also, to establish and maintain good channels of communication amongst the pupils and between school, parents, visitors and the community.

We aim to provide, irrespective of gender or ability, ethnicity or social circumstances, a broad and balanced education and access to the whole educational experience by stimulating pupils’ interest, developing their potential and offering as wide a variety of experiences as are appropriate and available.

As part of our pupils’ broader education we aim to develop personal and moral values, including respect for other people, property, honesty and a respect for religious beliefs. Pupils learn to to have an understanding of how their actions may affect others. Alongside this, we aim to develop the children’s understanding and appreciation of the multi cultural society in which we live and to develop their tolerance for other races, religions and ways of life.

We encourage our pupils to develop the ability to exercise a degree of responsibility and initiative, to participate in the school community and to work successfully in groups.

We aim to develop independent and enquiring minds with the ability to question, discuss and argue rationally, to make informed decisions and apply themselves effectively to tasks.

Throughout their time at Upton School we encourage pupils to value education for its own sake and acquire the skills and enthusiasm to view education as a lifelong process.

At Upton Primary School, we passionately believe that our children have the right to a broad and balanced curriculum. The curriculum of the school underpins all the learning that takes place and an engaging and inspirational curriculum can foster curiosity and a passion for learning so that children may develop into life-long learners.

At Upton Primary School, we believe that learning is most engaging for children when it is planned in a cross-curricular way, taking on board their interests and therefore, enabling children to make links throughout their learning. We always ensure our activities include challenges for all learners, opportunities for children to develop through play and real-life experiences with lots of interaction from adults and peers. We have high expectations of both staff and pupils and always strive to achieve outstanding outcomes, enjoyment for all and a 'living' curriculum that establishes a love of learning for all children.
