Gascoigne Primary School is a vibrant and diverse community where pupils enjoy and achieve in a safe environment. Every member of our school community: pupils, parents, staff and Governors are treated with respect. We pride ourselves on the care and provision we offer to pupils and staff alike.

Gascoigne Primary School is an inclusive and diverse, purpose built, semi open-plan building, built in 1977 to replace the original Victorian school. Additional Early Years provision , which comprises two Nurseries and five Reception classes, was opened in February 1994. Gascoigne Infants and Juniors amalgamated in January 1999. A new dining hall was built during 2008. Four new classrooms and a new music room were built in 2013. In September 2016, Gascoigne Primary opened a brand new all purpose built school within close proximity called The Shaftesburys Site. The capacity is 1200 pupils, but as the school grows to a seven form entry primary school - there will be nearer 1500 pupils attending when full.

The Shaftesburys Site has three floors and an exciting roof top playground. It consists of: a 78 place nursery, three classes in each year group from Reception to Year 6, an Art studio, a Music room, a Nurture Room and Family Liaison room. There are six play decks for physical exercise or outdoor learning.

All staff at Gascoigne Primary are committed to supporting children to gain academic success. Children are encouraged to develop positive attitudes to leaning and are given the opportunities to realise their full potential in all subjects. Their safety and emotional well being is at the centre of everything we do at Gascoigne; we aim to develop our children's resilience and confidence in taking on challenges within their learning.

The children are placed in mixed ability classes according to age. In all year groups your child will encounter a wide range of teaching experiences from individual one to one support, small group activities to whole class teaching. While believing that a wide repertoire is essential, over recent years the school has adopted a more structured whole class teaching style with the children working in smaller groups and individually within this.

The school aims to provide: a personal point of contact for every child and their parents; to offer support and guidance for the children’s development and achievements and to monitor the children’s progress and achievement. The overall school philosophy is to promote positive behaviour through praise. Politeness, kindness and consideration to others is desired at all times.

You are very welcome to visit the school to have a look for yourself and meet our very friendly team. Visits to the school can be arranged by contacting the school’s main office. One of our Admin Team will usually lead a tour of the school and a member of the Senior Leadership Team will also be pleased to meet you.

If your child has additional or special educational needs, our Inclusion Managers would also be happy to meet with you to discuss provision for your child. Our school is currently growing to 7 forms of entry with Nursery provision. Our intake for each year group will therefore eventually be 210 with a 234 place Nursery.

At Gascoigne we are driven to ensure that all children receive the best possible education. We pride ourselves on the quality of the Teaching and Learning on offer, and continually seek to improve the quality of outcomes for our pupils.

The Nursery Provision can admit up to 234 pupils on a part-time basis; we are also able to offer full time places if needed. Children are admitted during the academic year in which they reach their fourth birthday. As far as possible, parents preference for morning of afternoon sessions are honoured. We have provision for 3 year olds.

The greatest priority for parents and school is keeping our children safe. Information on how the school does this can be found in many of our policies including safeguarding policies, e-safety, health and safety and many others. For parents one of the biggest challenges for maintaining children's safety is the ever increasing world of social media and the internet. We have attached some links to excellent websites that we hope you will find useful in helping keep your child safe.

The Word of Christ International School is located at Pamkrono, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. It is a charitable Institution accredited by Ghana Education Service. It is an approved school that provides services to the local residents as well as the nearby villages from Nursery through to Junior High School.

The pupils continue to make good progress in all areas of the curriculum especially in the area of speaking and reading. They believe that much credit goes to the International support they receive from our school, GASCOIGNE PRIMARY SCHOOL.

Gascoigne has over the years supported Word of Christ International School with resources, such as, reading texts, story tapes, writing materials and school uniforms. A member of staff visited the school to help set up a school library with books provided by Gascoigne and delivered reading sessions with the staff and some of the children in the school.

U have the best caring teachers there. I had 3 girls study there now only one left there. I walk 30 mins to get to this school. The new head teacher has done wonders for the school. The staff go out of there way to make it a safe and pleasant time for the children. I work at a tuition centre and the gascoigne school children do very well in the assessments when they cum to us for extra tuition. Don't need to say anything else. I think my points answer it all
