Glebe is a foundation secondary special school for students aged 11-19. Our students have Education, Health & Care Plans (EHCP) with many diverse needs.
One of our main aims is to help our students to achieve and succeed in dealing effectively with any obstacles to learning. The other important priority, of the school is to give to our young people the skills they require to lead as independent a life as possible once they have left.
There are a number of students on the autistic spectrum. Other needs include specific learning problems, emotional/ behavioural and speech/language and communication difficulties.
Glebe School has received an "Outstanding" grade from Ofsted for our last 3 inspections. We plan to build on this success using all our resources to enable each student to have a healthy, happy and safe environment within the school and to have a personalised approach to their learning needs.
We have a thriving 6th Form where many of our more vulnerable students study for up to 3 years in preparation for their next step in Education, Training or Employment. There are links with Mainstream schools, in the local area, where some of our students follow integration programmes. We also have contacts with Universities around London who sometimes carry out research in important areas like Autism and ADHD.
There is a thriving work experience programme for students in Year 11 and 6th Form. It is an important part of the all-embracing approach to the education of our students.
The School has an excellent range of facilities which are used to help students reach the best of their potential. There are a team of Specialist subject Teachers who manage and encourage the learning of students. The curriculum courses provide routes to nationally approved certification including GCSE. These include an active Physical Education/Outward Bound area, Drama, Music, Food and Design Technology, Art, Humanities, Numeracy, Advice/Guidance/Work Related Learning and Literacy/Communication Skills. Learning both within and outside of the classroom is seen as an important part of their learning and helps prepare students for lifelong learning.
Students, often in smaller class groups, are appropriately supported every day by our Teaching Staff and a committed team of Teaching Assistants.
Glebe is located in West Wickham near Bromley in extensive grounds. The School is continually striving to meet the needs of all students making the very best use of all the resources on offer.
Vision and Values
Our vision here at Glebe is to ensure that everybody is included in a harmonious and celebratory school community that prepares all of our pupils to live life independently, responsibly and successfully.
To help us realise this vision we have five core and aspiring values that we believe help support and shape young people in becoming mature adults.
Glebe pupils will leave the school with a thorough appreciation of these values and their importance in supporting them for a successful future
