Vision

Our vision is Excellence for All. Hornchurch High School cultivates a dynamic learning environment that fosters academic excellence, embraces diversity, and empowers students to become resilient, collaborative thinkers, irrespective of their background or starting point, who are prepared to thrive in an ever-evolving global society.

Our core values drive our pursuit of Excellence for All

  • We aspire to be the best that we can be
  • Believe in ourselves and others
  • Achieve our goals and strive for the next

Hornchurch High’s curriculum is broad and balanced for all students in all year groups; it is tailored to foster a love of learning. Our knowledge-based yet learning-centred approach activates the greatest success for all learners irrespective of their background or starting point. The curriculum is meticulously planned to ensure progression is logically sequenced; cumulatively developing learners’ skills and knowledge over time. We have high expectations of each pupil, with appropriate levels of support and challenge put in place. This helps to make our pupils confident, curious, independent learners, who are resilient and can respond to an ever-changing world. We provide our pupils with a range of learning experiences beyond the classroom to further cultivate a sense of belonging; ensuring that they are responsible citizens of the future. Both in lessons and through our essential wider curriculum we foster a strength of character and cultural capital to ensure all students flourish in society. We celebrate our successes and strive for the next, inspiring pupils to succeed in the next stage in their education. We pride ourselves on excellence for all.

Three non- teaching members of staff are employed full time to work closely with the pastoral team. Their role is to support each Head of Year directly with intervention programmes for students who may be experiencing difficulties with attainment, attendance, punctuality or behaviour for learning.

These non-teaching members of staff are available throughout the day, including break times, to help Heads of Year, students and parents to resolve any daily matters arising. They supervise our isolation room, and deliver personalised intervention programmes as required.
