Belmore is an open and friendly school where each individual child is important to us. Children, staff, parents and Governors are all rightly proud of the school and its place in our local community. We have high expectations of all the children and respect for each other is at the core of what we do. Our vision is to become an outstanding school offering a first class education for all children in an environment that is both supportive and challenging. We expect a lot of our children and will challenge them to aim high but we know that it's our job to nurture and support them so that they can. Results across the school in recent years shows just how well our children are rising to the challenge we have set them.

At school children will use the internet a lot to help them with their learning. Children are always supervised and we have systems that make sure children can only access suitable websites. At home children might sometimes have unsupervised access to the internet. This means they can potentially access all kinds of society (both good and bad) and bring them virtually into their homes.

Our first priority is to ensure that all children are receiving First Quality Teaching within the class that is differentiated to meet the needs of all pupils.Additional resources, training and support from the school’s Special Needs Coordinator will be provided in order to meet the needs of children with additional needs.A range of interventions are run to provide additional support outside of class lessons to meet the specific needs of the children where a concern has been identified.Parents will be informed of any concerns and additional in class support/intervention that is being put in place.A child on the SEN register will have a provision map which will outline specific targets and the intervention/support that child will be receiving.Governors are responsible for monitoring the effectiveness of the provision in place for pupils identified with SEND and they will receive a report from the Special Needs Coordinator (SENCO).

At Belmore Primary Academy, we believe that children learn best when their learning is carefully planned and structured so that all pupils make good progress.Teaching and learning activities inspire, enthuse and challenge their curiosity for learning.Assessment informs teaching so that there is provision for support, repetition and extension for each child, at each level of attainment.Children understand how well they are doing and how to improve. The learning environment is positive, engaging, and safe. Our teaching and our curriculum is built around these key principles.

We are in the process of developing a new curriculum to reflect changes to the National Curriculum introduced this year.We are also developing a new approach to assessment now that the Government has removed the old National Curriculum levels that were used to show how well children were doing and the progress they were making. We will shortly up uploading much more information about both our curriculum and how we will be measuring the achievements of children.

We have a coherent and focused approach to raising achievement of all children. We recognise that children eligible for Pupil Premium face barriers to achievement and we will use Pupil Premium funding to help address these. We will focus on attendance, attitudes to school and engagement with school, external factors, professional development focussing on improving outcomes for eligible pupils, improving the quality of teaching and learning, language acquisition, parental engagement, development of literacy and numeracy skills.

We will use our assessment and tracking system to track and enable thorough analysis of performance to identify pupils who are under achieving and put in place relevant targeted interventions to address this. We will ensure that staff at all levels know who eligible children are and have the time and resources to track and support them appropriatelyWe will have a Senior Leader who will have a clear overview of how funding is allocated and the difference it is making to the outcomes of pupils termly.

We will report to Governors and Trust Directors regularly on the performance of eligible children and Governors will closely monitor the our effectiveness in closing the gap between different groups of pupils.
