BWI is a Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School in the London Borough of Hillingdon. We currently have a morning nursery with up to 30 children and two classes in each year group. The children wear a smart school uniform from the Nursery to Year 6.

The first mention of a school in Ruislip was in 1655. The Church of England School attached to St Martin's Church dates back to around 1812 when it was housed in wooden buildings. In 1862 a permanent building was erected in Eastcote Road. BWI School was built on this site when the population grew and it was officially opened by Bishop Winnington-Ingram, Bishop of London, on 15th July 1931. In 1967 the school moved to a larger site in Southcote Rise and became a two form entry school in 1993, now providing education for over 400 children.

Our vision, values and worship are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens. Our vision and ethos are based on this statement, supported by the parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37). The parable inspires us to live out our Christian values and to strive for excellence in all that we do by remembering to “Love thy neighbour as thyself.”

Our six school values of Compassion, Endurance, Humility, Peace, Thankfulness and Trust, chosen by the staff, governors and children, reflect the aspirations we have for each child, to inspire a high level of spiritual and moral reflection and to challenge our learners to take responsibility for their own actions. The value we are focussing on this half term is Humility. Use the resource below at home to support your child's understanding of this value. BWI School aims to:

  • Be a Christian community where everyone can grow in Christian faith and develop an understanding and tolerance of others
  • Help each individual develop self-awareness, self-discipline and a positive attitude to life and work
  • Develop a sensitivity to the needs of others, valuing and respecting individuals and the whole community
  • Create a happy, organised and stimulating working environment so that children are enabled to fulfil their own potential and acquire skills and knowledge to prepare them for the wider world
  • Foster in children an excitement for God's world and an awareness of their place in it.
