At Bentley Wood High School for Girls we are proud of our fine record of academic achievement within our safe, caring, stimulating environment where pupils learn happily and well. We encourage each girl to develop a wide range of skills and interests, to achieve her personal best and to work co-operatively with consideration for all members of our learning community at all times.
Bentley Wood High School aims to establish a co-operative and stimulating environment in which pupils can learn happily and well. We value all members of the school community equally, seek to develop their skills and abilities, and encourage them to contribute to all areas of school life.
We aim to provide a broad and balanced curriculum for each pupil which will help her achieve her best, develop her confidence and encourage her to be a thoughtful and active member of society. We consider that our aims for our pupils are best achieved through a close partnership between school and home, and we work together with parents to ensure their daughters' success.
At Bentley Wood, we have the highest expectations for all students to achieve their best, which underpins curriculum planning. We provide a carefully sequenced curriculum from Year 7 to 13. This is based on gaining knowledge and skills that enable all students to achieve and succeed in their future education and employment. This is underpinned by our values; Communication, Achievement, Respect, Empathy. Our curriculum reflects the national curriculum and external qualifications, however, goes beyond this by preparing students for exams and tests. Students are well prepared for life in modern Britain and are aware of how they can make a positive contribution to society and understand their local community. The broad and balanced curriculum provides all students the opportunity to study and achieve well and to develop as confident young women:
At Bentley Wood High School we take safeguarding very seriously. Teachers and non-teaching staff have a crucial role to play in shaping the lives of young people. All staff are accountable for the way in which they exercise authority, manage risk, use resources and protect pupils from discrimination and avoidable harm.
