Thank you for your interest in Brookside Primary School. We are a community school which inspires each pupil to ‘strive for excellence everyday’. Here at Brookside, excellence means something different for everyone, as our pupils are encouraged to grow and develop at their own pace. We have a very rich school culture based on our diverse and inclusive school environment. We prioritise the holistic development of each child as we work in partnership with a range of stakeholders to provide the best learning opportunities both in and outside the classroom.
With a strong focus on building relationships, our teachers know our pupils very well. This has laid a strong foundation of behaviour for learning to drive our ambitious curriculum. We aim to create not just academically successful pupils but also learners who are aware of the ever-changing world around them, as they challenge themselves to discover what they are good at. Consequently, our pupils engage in a wide range of educational trips, sports activities, curriculum specific workshops, productions, projects and research, to build their confidence, promote British values, as well as enrich their lives.
Brookside Primary School has established itself as one of the best primary schools in the area, with pupils consistently achieving well above local and national standards in Early Years, Key Stage One and Key Stage Two. Its latest Ofsted report from March 2019 confirms that.

“High-quality teaching means that pupils make strong progress during key stage 2, particularly in writing and mathematics.” Brookside Primary is part of the family of schools sponsored by The Rosedale Hewens Academy Trust. The Trust has a proven track record of success and is responsible for a dramatic upturn in academic achievement locally.
Brookside Primary joined the family of schools sponsored by The Rosedale Hewens Academy Trust in April 2013.
Through its proven track record of success, the Academy Trust is able to work alongside Brookside to enhance and sustain the commitment to further drive up standards of academic achievement, attendance and behaviour.
The Rosedale Hewens Academy Trust is responsible for a number of primary schools and secondary colleges and therefore has the infrastructure, capacity and resources to make big improvements for children across both phases. Based on experience and driven by the priority to preserve small educational settings, the Trust is keen to maintain and promote schools where children are able to thrive because they are each known as individuals. This is achieved through formal structures of collaboration where groups of experienced practitioners work together to make positive change for those families which make up our local community. Through a common sense of purpose, educational vision and ethos, there is real scope for the Trust to further develop high quality local provision whilst at the same time allowing the school to retain its own distinctive character.
Brookside is able to benefit from the additional experience brought to the school by colleagues elsewhere in the wider Trust; able practitioners who are also passionate about making a real difference to the lives of children in our care. Working collaboratively as active partners, this enlarged group of professionals delivers a truly unique offer which benefits all stakeholders.
