Addey and Stanhope is a high-achieving school where students feel safe and happy. Our students are supported by excellent teaching, a curriculum that caters to their individual needs and provides them with a range of enrichment opportunities. Addeys is a small, caring, inclusive school where all students are known as individuals and where their particular skills and talents can be developed to the full. Please take the time to watch our school film here - Why Choose Addey & Stanhope.

Building upon this long and proud history, the school focuses of the present needs of our community. Whilst this is overwhelmingly focused on the successful education of our students, we also pay attention to their general wellbeing and that of the community in which we are based.

The school has a clear purpose, developing students' personal strengths and also addressing their weaknesses, ensuring that they have full access to a modern and changing society. We aim to:

  • develop in each child a strong character based upon justice, courage and a clear morality
  • embed the ability to learn, think critically, reason, understand and evaluate
  • equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to maximise employment choices
  • introduce students to a range of opportunities to develop their interests and abilities in order to choose a safe, healthy and fulfilled lifestyle
  • be aware of the environmental impact of their choices.
  • All students should enter, leave and move around the buildings and classrooms in a quiet, orderly and safe manner.
  • All outdoor clothing should be removed inside the buildings
  • Full school uniform should be worn in the correct way
  • All necessary books and equipment, including the student planner, should be placed on the desk at the beginning of lessons and registration. Bags should be put in the appropriate place
  • Students should not speak when the teacher or another student is talking to the class
  • Students should only talk with permission and should listen carefully at all other times
  • Students should remain in their seats at all times except when directed otherwise
  • Students should pack away their books and equipment only when asked to do so.

Our ‘Hearts of Oak’ curriculum aims to ensure that all of our students become successful, happy and healthy individuals who are exceeding their potential and are positive influencers of social change, especially in our local community of Deptford. It does so by focussing on supporting students to become Compelling Learners who are happy and healthy, who posses the Addey’s family values and the skills of Change Makers.

I studied in this school 1977-1978. Many memories and an excellent educational system because it allowed one to demonstrate their abilities and skills. I had a lot of support from my teachers, being a foreigner they gave me opportunities starting with the then director Mr. Jenkins, the teacher Mrs. French, and especially Miss Patricia Rosser who helped me a lot in math and with the language (in charge of the group 1R) Unforgettable experience. Thank you!

Making friends is Easy (be careful who you make friends with though), teachers are so helpful and most of them treat you like a friend.
