We believe our school is a very special place to work and learn, a real community school where everyone is equally valued and enabled to succeed. It has an individual identity that combines traditional values with a modern and vibrant vision. We are proud of our successful school, where children achieve good results, develop into responsible citizens, have fun and enjoy coming to school. We have a great team of committed and enthusiastic adults who work hard to ensure that every child develops lifetime skills for learning and aspires to success.

Links Primary School offers all children a high standard of academic and social education, enabling and challenging all pupils to reach their full potential. We provide a safe, secure and stimulating environment in which we encourage all children to value themselves and others. We help them to make the right choices and develop into responsible and caring members of society.

At Links Primary School we follow the admissions criteria that are set down by the Local Authority (LA).Admissions criteria are the rules by which applications are ranked for each school.Children in public care (i.e. children looked after by a local authority). If you make an application under this criterion, it must be supported by a letter from the relevant local authority. Children with an exceptional and professionally supported medical or social need for a place in a particular school. You must submit evidence from a professional person with the application form otherwise it will not be possible to take the particular need into account. The Admissions Team will consider if the evidence shows a need for the child to attend a particular school, and this need could not reasonably be supported in another school. Those children who have a brother or sister (sibling) registered at the school who will be attending the school at the time of their admission. A qualifying sibling is a brother or sister (or step brother/sister, adopted brother/sister) who is part of the same family unit living at the same address. (For Reception class applicants, this does not include younger siblings in the Nursery or older siblings in Year 6).

We expect all our pupils to attend regularly and to be on time for school. Attendance levels are closely monitored and are addressed when necessary. Children are rewarded for excellent attendance and punctuality and there is a special prize for the winning class.

Links Primary School provides excellent childcare facilities for pupils who attend the school from Reception to Year 6, offering parents an opportunity to leave their children at school in a safe environment outside the normal school hours.Light meals are provided at both sessions. We also offer a Holiday Playscheme during all school holidays and training days, except at Christmas. Places should be booked and paid for in advance. We accept a wide range of childcare vouchers offered by various employers.

Children make the most of their school experience when there is good communication and a strong partnership between home and school. School staff are always on hand to deal with queries or concerns and there are regular opportunities for parents to discuss their child’s progress. We also have a Home School Officer who is available to offer guidance or support if necessary.

At Links Primary School we believe that good behaviour is essential for effective learning and a happy environment. We expect our children to be kind and polite to fellow pupils, staff and visitors and to be true ambassadors for our school at all times.

The school has survived two world wars and little damage occurred to the fabric of the building. Log Book entries tell us that in World War 2 a bomb fell in the corner of the playground and a piece of that bomb is still kept by the owners of Regina Motors in Seely Road, former pupils of Links School. You may have noticed that the Caretakers House, adjoining the school in Gunton Road, is a completely different style to all the other houses in this area. This is because during the war a bomb fell on the previous property and completely destroyed it. Unfortunately, when it was rebuilt no effort was made to reproduce the original features.

From being a five to eleven Primary School, Links became a First School when the London Borough of Merton introduced the three tier education system in the 1960s. Then the children started their education here and stayed until they were 9 years old before moving on to Middle School. Most children from Links transferred to Gorringe Park Middle School. In 2002 Merton reverted to all through Primary Schools and Links once again educated pupils up to the age of eleven. By this time, we also had a Nursery, meaning we took children from three years up to eleven. In 2012 we celebrated our Centenary Year and we were delighted to welcome back ex-pupils and members of staff, some from all over the world, who enthralled us with their memories of life at Links. We planted an oak tree and buried a time capsule in the garden, which we hope will bring joy to future generations.

Links Primary School believes strongly in the importance of computing and digital skills for your children and we are also dedicated to ensuring that they remain safe and responsible in an ever-changing online world. That's why we are a Digital Schools member of Parent Zone, an organisation dedicated to making the internet work for families. As a parent of a Digital School you are able to get access to a regular online safety magazine - Digital Parenting - which will be sent home with your child.
