Stillness Infant School

We aim to develop a love of learning in all children through an exciting curriculum underpinned by high expectations and set within a warm and positive learning environment.

The school is set on a large site which is shared with Stillness Junior School. We are largely housed in one building on the ground floor, with office spaces upstairs. We also have a separate small building used for meetings, breakfast club, parent workshops, and after school activities.

There is a playground space for all children as well as separate outdoor learning spaces for pupils in Nursery and Reception. In addition we have access to Kings Sports Ground, a fabulous resource right next to our school!

Stillness Infant School uses a Values-based Education approach to teaching and learning. The staff have worked together to select a set of 22 values that embody the spirit of Stillness Infant School. Each month, we teach a value through assemblies, displays and everyday interactions with the children, actively modelling that value and referring to it throughout the day.

Focussing on these values helps create a strong learning environment that enhances academic attainment, and develops children’s social and relationship skills to succeed at school and throughout their lives. The positive learning environment is achieved through the values being modelled by the entire school community.

When we engage with values we start to understand their implications for making choices about our attitudes and responses. A Values-based approach encourages reflective and aspirational attributes and attitudes. These can be nurtured to help people discover the very best of themselves, which enables them to be good citizens and prepare them for the life of work.
