Coppermill is a happy and excellent community school with the highest expectations and aspirations for all our pupils. Dedicated teaching and support staff enable every child to excel and explore their passions through broad, balanced and rich learning opportunities.

We believe in Unity, Creativity, Empathy, Respect, Determination and Aspiration. These are our six core values that are at the heart of everything we do. See if you can spot them in action in one of the many wonderful videos or photos on this site! We warmly invite you to visit us here at Coppermill, where we’d be more than happy to share our unique school community.

The school is located in the London Borough of Waltham Forest, at the junction of Edward Road and Coppermill Lane, in a quiet, predominantly residential area. It is close to Walthamstow High Street, with its famous market and within easy reach of bus, rail and underground transport. It is adjacent to the Douglas Eyre Sports Centre and in easy walking distance of the Walthamstow Marshes and the River Lea.

Provision is available at Coppermill for children with Special Educational Needs and for those who speak English as an Additional Language. At Coppermill we believe that every child, regardless of their ability, should be fully included in all aspects of school life. We ensure that all children are challenged and have opportunities to become independent learners. To help us achieve this we provide a wide range of intervention programmes to support our pupil’s learning.

Coppermill’s school policies aim to provide staff, pupils, parents and guardians with clear information about the organisation and ethos of Coppermill and the standards of behaviour expected by all members of its community. These policies enable us to work together to do the best by those in our care. Our policies are formulated and approved by the governing body.

We are a creatively-inclined one form entry state school, serving a diverse community in the centre of Walthamstow.

Our school is happy and inclusive with the highest aspirations for all our pupils. Everyone works hard to ensure that all pupils thrive as successful learners and our values are at the heart of everything we do. Walking around the school you will find a harmonious, safe, friendly and purposeful atmosphere complete with high standards of respect, behaviour and achievement. Our school community – pupils, staff, parents and governors – all work together to achieve the ethos, culture and long term vision for the school.

At Coppermill, we are dedicated to providing a broad, creative and enquiry led curriculum through high quality teaching, incorporating all art forms, together with the core subjects – English, maths and science. An environment that encourages independence, enables our pupils to explore and use their abilities through rich and wide-ranging learning opportunities and experiences. We believe in empowering every child to foster a passion for reading, with books underpinning our practices and approach.

Our child-centred philosophy aims to equip our pupils with skills for their future lives, by supporting their social and emotional well-being, developing their confidence and resilience, as well as building on their academic success and progress.

If you are a prospective parent, we warmly invite you to visit us where we’d be pleased to give you a tour and tell you more about our unique school.
