Leytonstone School is an over-subscribed and successful co-educational comprehensive school for pupils aged 11 to 16. It enjoys a proud place in the local community stretching back over a century to its inception in 1911 when it first opened as Leyton County High School for Girls.
Leytonstone School is a safe space where our pupils develop their ambitions and the life skills with which they will achieve them. Our school motto is ‘Great things will grow’ and we truly believe that the creation of an optimum educational experience will lead to all our pupils leaving the school as highly qualified, kind and confident young people with a wealth of experience of the wider world.
Academic achievement very is important for future success, but we aim to be more than just an educational establishment. We want to work hand in hand with the vision of the local community to reduce poverty, reduce violence and improve the health and life chances of our young people. The effectiveness of our work is seen in the fact that 98% of pupils who leave us continue on into further education, training or employment.
We believe that the key to doing this is to provide pupils with access to exceptional teaching and learning within a warm and motivational environment. Relationships between pupils and staff at the school are warm and harmonious. We work within a culture of trust, mutual respect and honesty. Our expectations of pupils are high and we know that as a result of experiencing such a context, our pupils will go on to lead enriched and fulfilled lives, making positive contributions to their own communities in turn.
Pupils at Leytonstone access a broad and stimulating curriculum. We endeavour to ensure that pupils experience the richness of the national curriculum underpinned by exceptional PSHRE provision. We are relentless in our drive to improve pupil learning in both the taught and enrichment curricula and regularly review our provision to ensure that it is in line with our high hopes for our pupils. We are proud of our inclusivity and we work closely with a wealth of agencies to support pupils and their families. We are an expanding school! In September 2019 we admitted our first cohort of 210 Year 7 pupils, in September 2020 we are expecting to increase again with a new cohort of 210 pupils.

Leytonstone School is a verry succesfull school unlike any other school in has many behaviour issues

The school is full of many well behaved students, despite the disruptive students, the school has a great learning environment. I must admit the school is quite lenient, however that is only towards things such as hair or jewelry however they will not tolerate bullying in any shape or form or violence. Quite frankly I have studied in both Connaught School for Girls and Leytonstone school and the learning environment in Leytonstone School is much better that the one in Connaught as they give you more one-on-one support and have high expectations of every student.

This is one of the best secondary schools. The teachers respect all children, and they do not tolerate bullying.

i used to go to leytonstone about 4-5 months ago and was very sad when i left, i made tons of good friends. some of the kids were annoying but then every school has them. i really didnt want to leave but i still keep in touch with my old friends and my new school aint bad. So... thanks Leytonstone.
