Welcome to Arnot St. Mary Church of England Primary School. Arnot St. Mary C of E Primary School is a rich and vibrant community. It is truly a place of learning and discovery where our children can develop their unique talents and reach their full potential in a happy, warm and safe atmosphere.
As a Church of England school, we are very proud of our strong links with the Liverpool Diocese and Parish of Walton-on-the-Hill. We are committed to providing an outstanding learning environment rooted in Christian values, where children can flourish and blossom as individuals who are able to make a positive contribution to life in modern Britain.
We strive continually at the school to provide learning of the highest quality. Our fully refurbished Victorian buildings provide a unique setting for our children. The newly-completed, state-of the-art technology hub and reading loft will add yet another dimension to our facilities, and provide the children with even greater opportunities to develop as independent learners.
Year-on-year, the school has achieved high standards of attainment in English and mathematics, and children leave the school often above the national expectation for reading, writing and maths, and ready for the next stage in their education.
Our enquiry-based curriculum provides outstanding learning opportunities, through a broad and balanced range of experiences which are relevant to children’s interests and needs. Children learn through themed projects, through which they can use and apply their literacy, numeracy and ICT skills in a range of contexts both inside and outside of the classroom.
Our aim is to recognise each child's individual talents and potential. We want pupils at Arnot St. Mary to have memorable, life-long learning experiences. We believe our school is a very special place. We have a learning environment to be proud of, amazing teachers and support staff, and supportive parents and families, and as a result, pupils are engaged, enthusiastic and proud of their school.
“We welcome all children to love, learn and grow in our faith. Arnot St Mary is a family with Christian values shining brightly at the heart of our community’.
Recognising our historic foundation, Arnot St Mary Church of England Primary School will preserve and develop its religious character in accordance with the teaching of the Church of England and in partnership with the Church at parish and diocesan level.
Our school aims to serve the community by providing an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice. We encourage an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith, and promote Christian values through the experience we offer to all our pupils.
We are a friendly school with a strong Christian ethos. Our inclusive character values the excellent relationships between the school, parents and the community in which each child is treated as an individual and is valued. We encourage children to work together valuing relationships they make as lifelong learners. We provide creative first hand learning opportunities that lead to high quality education with children at the centre of all we do. Our curriculum aims to enable the children to become inspired learners, independent thinkers, collaborative learners, resilient individuals and responsible citizens.
Values underpin all aspects of school life. We aim to nurture each child and foster their spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development. Across a two year cycle children explore the meaning and application of these values; hope, peace, courage, thankfulness, friendship, generosity, respect, forgiveness, perseverance, wisdom, trust and truth. Alongside these values we also promote British Values. All schools must ensure they teach pupils about democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance for those of different faiths and beliefs and we do this throughout our curriculum and collective worship.
Arnot St. Mary CE Primary is a place of discovery, where learning is an adventure and children are inspired to become lifelong learners. This statement sets out the principles underpinning the curriculum and reflects the school’s commitment to developing all aspects of our children’s learning.
Our curriculum has been developed to enable children to become: Inspired learners who have enquiring minds and want to find out more. Independent thinkers who can think critically and solve problems. Collaborative learners who work together and value the contribution of others. Resilient individuals who don’t give up easily. Responsible citizens who can make a positive contribution to our community and the wider world.
The Cornerstones Curriculum is a creative and thematic approach to learning that is mapped to the new 2014 Primary National Curriculum to ensure comprehensive coverage of national expectations. Our new curriculum will be delivered through Imaginative Learning Projects (ILPs) which will provide a rich menu of exciting and motivating learning activities that make creative links between all aspects of our children’s learning.
We believe children learn better when they are encouraged to use their imagination and apply their learning to engaging contexts. Our new curriculum will provide lots of learning challenges throughout the academic year that will require children to solve problems, apply themselves creatively and express their knowledge and understanding effectively across the curriculum.
