We are a large three form entry school in Tower Hamlets in the East End of London. Here at Marner we are very much aware of the responsibility that we have in ensuring that children enjoy coming to school. We are a diverse community and value every child as an individual.

At the school, you will find enthusiastic children with a passion for learning. You will also find a staff team who care for and nurture these young minds so that they grow and flourish. We believe very strongly that partnership with parents is crucial to a child’s success and encourage parents to take an active part in their child’s school life. We know that by working together, we will continue to build on the strengths of the school to make it even more successful.

At Marner School we aim to make parents and carers feel comfortable about coming into school to ask questions about their child’s learning, discuss any concerns they have about their child’s individual needs or their own needs as parents.

At Marner we are proud to be a member of the International Primary Curriculum (IPC). In Maths we are following the Lancashire Grid for Learning scheme. The IPC is a comprehensive, thematic, creative curriculum for 3-11 year olds, with a clear process of learning and with specific learning goals for every subject, for international mindedness and for personal learning. The IPC has been designed to ensure rigorous learning but also to help teachers make all learning exciting, active and meaningful for children. Learning with the IPC takes a global approach; helping children to connect their learning to where they are living now as well as looking at the learning from the perspective of people in other countries. The IPC is used by schools in more than 92 countries around the world.

Children in the EYFS are supported in developing their independence both in aspects of their own personal care and in respect of their learning. We have an ‘open door’ policy and welcome parents/ Carers and the contributions they make to their children’s learning. We aim for children to enjoy their time in the early years, to develop interests and to feel safe and secure so that they develop the necessary characteristics that will enable them to be effective and successful learners in the future.

At Marner we believe in working together to enable all children to become resilient, lifelong thinkers and learners.

Our school goals

  • To ensure all groups of children make a sustained improvement in their writing.

  • To develop the capacity for all children, families, staff and the wider community to feel valued and energised to work and learn in a happy, safe environment where all can grow.
  • To develop outstanding distributed leadership practice through shadowing, mentoring and coaching.
