Walthamstow Montessori School opened in April 2001 and welcomes boys and girls aged 2-11 years of age. We are situated in a pleasant part of North East London with children attending from a very wide area. Our children, families and staff are diverse and fully reflect multi-cultural London. Our children benefit from very small class sizes throughout the school.
2-year-olds can attend for mornings or for a whole school day. 3-year-olds and over attend for full days only. We also offer an Early Risers’ Club and Tea Timers’ Club which the children love. Our Upper School and Lower School are situated in separate buildings less than a five minute walk from each other. They are easily accessed from Central Walthamstow and we have excellent transport links with local bus stops very close by. The A406 is just a couple of minutes away.
We have large classroom spaces within the school which all benefit from lots of natural light as well as designated areas for ICT. We offer individual music tuition and even have our own little library. We have lovely outdoor spaces to play and explore. We have large indoor PE spaces as well as use of swimming, athletic and tennis facilities.
Class teachers are highly experienced and enthusiastic. They work closely to support your child’s welfare and development. We have excellent specialist staff members who have been chosen for their expertise in their field. Please see our staff list for full details. We pride ourselves on our communication with parents and provide a warm and welcoming environment for all our families.
Children at WMS have attended a variety of different schools after their time with us, including; local state schools, faith schools, academically selective schools as well as other independent schools. We are very proud to say that several of our children have been offered scholarships at their subsequent school.
Destinations of leavers over the last few years have included Walthamstow School for Girls, Forest School, Woodford County High School for Girls, The Latymer School, St Aubyns, Queenswood, Queen Elizabeth School for Boys, Henrietta Barnett School, Davenent, The Brit School, Highams Park, Heathcote, Palmers Green High School for Girls. We look forward to welcoming you to our school and hope our website tells you a little more about what we can offer you and your child.

This is my daughters first experience of a teaching environment and she loves it. She was only 2 years old when she started but settled in very quickly and now looks forward to her time there. The teachers are so lovely and the overall experience has been great. I couldn't recommend this nursery high enough. A real local treasure!

Both of my daughters attend WMS and both of them love school! The environment is warm and nurturing and the staff are all attentive and understanding to the both the children's and parent's needs.
We need more schools like this so that every child could experience this special approach to learning enabling them to develop into well rounded, confident and inquisitive little people.

Both of my children attend WMS. They truly enjoy going to school and have developed a natural curiosity for learning that is wonderful to see. The materials and techniques employed to educate have been very succesful in giving my children a deep understanding of the subject matter. WMS is a great school!

I think this is a great school. My daughter is in the Lower School and seems to be making rapid progress. She loves going and pretty much runs to get there each day. The staff are warm, welcoming and care about the children. There is a clear vision for the way in which she is taught and we are very fortunate to have this school so close.

Lovely school! Great place for your child to become the best version of themselves! There’s a lot of opportunity as a parent to get involved, which is great. Great knowledgeable team of teachers, couldn’t have chosen a better place for our son!
