Gilmour Infant School is a thriving and happy school. We provide a safe, friendly and supportive environment where all children enjoy learning, are valued as individuals, and, regardless of their ability, are fully included in school life.

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens.

Making school an exciting place to be, a place where we feel proud of the work displayed on the walls and of keeping the classroom tidy. Making school a place where the pupils are happy and safe when they play and work, knowing that no-one will hurt them or make them sad. Making the learning interesting and lots of fun, including visits out of school and visitors to school. Giving them work that is not too easy but which makes them think hard before they can finish. Encourage them to have a go and saying well done where they have tried their best so that they will always love coming to school and learning new things. Telling them what they are good at, showing them what they have to do to get better and then giving them work that will help them to improve a little bit every day, and all the time telling them how well they are doing and we are helping them when they need it. Making them always want to do their very best. Giving them a chance to tell people how they are feeling about our school so that they can make it even better.

At Gilmour Infants, all subjects are taught following the National Curriculum. Phonics is taught at Gilmour Infant School following the Jolly Phonics scheme. Within reading, the school uses Oxford Reading Tree. Our aim at Gilmour Infant School is to provide a safe, stimulating and supportive environment, where all children enjoy learning and achieve their academic, social, moral and spiritual potential.
