Welcome to the Woodlands Academy website and, on behalf of our staff, pupils and governors, thank you for visiting our website.
As part of the Grand Union Multi-Academy Trust (GUMAT), we have a shared vision of ‘Together we achieve’, which defines our collaborative approach to learning and teaching throughout our school.
Our aim at Woodlands is to support the academic and emotional development of all our pupils through collaborative working with our families. Wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do and we are very proud of the recent work we have done and continue to do with the charity, Our Time and with the Felix Project. Our children provide feedback through the school council and our safeguarding group, where pupils contribute to an ongoing discussion about safety in school, online and in the wider community.
Our curriculum is creative, inclusive and increasingly diverse, with opportunities for pupils to pursue areas of interest and to learn through a range of experiences, including trips and theme days to celebrate units of learning. We use Google for Education tools, including Google Classroom, and chromebooks to enhance learning across the school and to provide access to home learning where possible. We have access to additional devices, which can be borrowed to complete home learning tasks, and teach Online Safety skills throughout the year, ensuring that our pupils are prepared for life in an increasingly digital world.
We have lots of outdoor learning space and are developing Forest School provision for pupils across the school. Our extensive outdoor environment is used by all year groups and a fantastic location for our Summer Festival and Sports Day! Woodlands Academy and to represent such a fantastic community of pupils, staff and families. As a team, we aim to ensure all pupils develop the social, emotional and academic skills which will enable them to succeed throughout their lives. Parent coffee mornings are held fortnightly and Parent workshops are available throughout the year to support home learning, increase awareness of school policies or the curriculum and to meet the needs of our school community, as identified by our parents.

To aid this engagement we have created an environment where positive relationships and interactions are encouraged. This promotes and nurtures everyone’s attitudes and dispositions towards learning. We encourage our pupils to have ‘an appetite to learn’ by being inquisitive and curious.
