Surabaya European School was founded in 1997 as the first Montessori school in Surabaya. The school grew with the students in its first class into a British International Curriculum with both Primary and Secondary Schools that became fully accredited with Cambridge International Examinations in 2011. SES is an independent, co-educational, non-profit international school for students aged 3 – 16 with our students’ educational journey concluding with IGCSE examinations in Year 11. Our alumni have successfully transitioned to schools in Europe, USA, Canada, Singapore and Australia.
We pride ourselves on fostering an inclusive international student body with over 15 nationalities represented. Our small size means that all teaching and management staff are familiar with each student’s ability and progress. This allows us to support and encouraged each individual student in a very personalised way. Our teachers are highly qualified, internationally experienced and enjoy open lines of communication with parents.

Surabaya European School (SES) was established in 2001 to cater for parents seeking an exacting curriculum that would transfer well into all educational systems. We are the only school in Surabaya that combines Montessori education for students from ages 3-5, the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) for Primary school students, and the Cambridge International Key Stage 3 and IGCSE education for Secondary school students. Our school is a learning community where the academic and personal development of each child is at the heart of everything we do. Learning is focused on the development of skills throughout the school using curricula that support the children’s abilities to apply the knowledge they acquire in new and practical ways to deepen their understanding.

As a student of 15 or so years here, I had a fantastic experience and I'm truly proud to be a graduate. The faculty were knowledgeable and always willing to help, creating a supportive learning environment. The Cambridge curriculum was challenging yet rewarding, and it really prepared me for the next steps in my academic and professional journey. The school itself was well-maintained, with plenty of resources available, including great library facilities, an excellent pool and field, as well as comfortable classrooms.The sense of community here is strong, and I made lifelong friends during my time. I will always cherish my time here.

This coming year will be our son's 3rd year at Surabaya European School and it's been fantastic years for our family. We'd been struggle to find a school that can help with my son's learning problem and finally we found one! Our son was diagnosed with some learning disabilities in his early school years. Since joining SES, he always has attention and support from his teachers and friends that finally build his confidence in academic and social interaction and motivation of learning. Now, we are very proud of his achievement, not to be a perfect one but to be a better and happier human being !

Although this school isn't very large, it has amazing teachers and staff. With their dedicated support, my son graduated with excellent results. They made sure he had a balanced experience, combining strong academics with sports and other activities that helped him grow and develop.
