Our Lady of the Assumption Primary School

At Our Lady’s we are committed to providing your child with the best education possible. We aim to develop each child’s potential through high quality teaching and learning throughout the school. Our vision is to ensure all our pupils enjoy their time at Our Lady’s and develop the skills and knowledge required to become confident and enthusiastic learners.

At Our Lady of the Assumption Primary School and Nursery we have a ‘Values Blueprint.’ Each month we select a value and reflect on what it means for us in our school, in our community, in our country and in the wider world. The values are shared with staff and pupils in our weekly assemblies and class liturgies as well as with other members of the school community through our weekly newsletters.

Our visions and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens. Our school motto is, 'believe, achieve, succeed.' This underpins our school mission statement and forms the basis of all teaching and learning at Our Lady of the Assumption Primary School and Nursery.

Our school offers a curriculum which is balanced and broadly based and which:

• promotes the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of pupils at the school and of society, and
• prepares pupils at the school for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life.

We aim to provide a curriculum which engages and enthuses all individuals and all groups of pupils, enabling them to make good progress and achieve their best. We are constantly refining our curriculum and what we teach in school in order to meet the needs of all learners.

Our school follows the 'Letters and Sounds' programme to deliver phonics teaching for pupils. Staff also use 'Jolly Phonics' resources, actions and songs to enhance the teaching of phonics.
