We are a mainstream, non-selective comprehensive school and we pride ourselves on providing a great education to students from all backgrounds. Our school is centred on the values of collaboration, opportunity, respect and excellence and our ethos is focused on “students first” in everything. We follow a broad and balanced curriculum, which is designed to inspire and motivate our students to achieve. We now have an established Sixth Form.

Students at City Academy are supported to grow into academic, articulate, respectful and confident individuals. They are equipped with the skills to succeed in a competitive and expanding employment environment. Students are involved in all aspects of school life, especially leadership roles. We encourage students to take risks and build the resilience they need to undertake new challenges.

City Academy is a real part of the community in the centre of this great city of ours and relationships are key to our success. Importantly, every member of the team matters here. Relationships between staff, students, parents and our local community are all vital to the culture of our school. It is these relationships that make City Academy a safe and secure environment for students to learn, both in and beyond the classroom.

Our students get tremendous opportunities to be involved in residential activities and field trips. We work closely with local businesses so that our students gain an insight into the working world and the expectations that this brings. We are particularly proud of the partnerships we have with two local organisations with a national and global profile: our links with Birmingham Repertory Theatre and Birmingham City Football Club provide an extra dimension to the experience of our students.

Every child will be given a chance to shine and will be supported when they encounter difficulties or challenges.

Exceptional educational outcomes, opportunities and experiences will be complemented by the highest quality progression routes. Students will be aspirational and open-minded about their potential as successful global citizens, whilst remaining grounded and proud of where they are from.
