We welcome you to St. Christopher's Catholic Primary School. Our school has an excellent reputation in Liverpool. We are a two form entry school that offers much more than education. Our children are incredibly happy and have a very positive attitude to their learning. We work hard to develop a creative curriculum which inspires and excites children. We are very fortunate to have great support from our parents and other friends of our school. We are all very proud of our school and our community. In June 2015 we were recognised by Ofsted as a 'Good School' in all areas.
Our warm and friendly atmosphere makes St. Christopher's a great place to learn, where children feel safe and develop into responsible young adults. We have creative classrooms, wonderful outdoor learning facilities, a well used library and a 'Dream Room' (4D learning space) which all help to enhance the children's learning.
Most children join our Nursery at the age of three and stay with us for all of their primary years. They leave as well rounded and caring individuals. We often welcome past pupils back to school and support them with their work experience or college placements. We love to hear of the successes of our former pupils.
Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens.
At St Christopher's Catholic Primary School, we embrace each new day and live the Jesus way through: Caring, Learning, Inspiring.
As a whole community we aim to do this by: Working together, having fun and being happy. Respecting and showing love to everyone and everything. Using kind words and actions. Always trying our best and never giving up. Being thankful to each other and to God.
At St. Christopher's Catholic Primary School, our aim is to ensure our children receive a broad and balanced curriculum which is creative, engaging and fun. We aim to develop the whole child - academically, artistically, physically, spiritually, morally, socially and culturally. We aim to develop a love of learning in our children and to prepare them for their futures as independent, skilled and caring individuals.
For KS1 and KS2 our curriculum for the foundation subjects is covered as half termly topics. Each topic has links with the children's work in English and maths and begins with an exciting Entry Point. This is an activity which will engage and motivate the children and spark their curiosity for the lessons ahead. Each topic ends with an Exit point which provides an opportunity for all children to 'show what they know'. This may take the form of a presentation to parents, a piece of writing, a showcase of work to another class or perhaps an ICT presentation. In addition, each topic also has a homework project which we hope will provide an opportunity for families to work with their children to deepen their knowledge, skills and understanding.
Our curriculum includes exciting subject and theme immersion days and weeks which allow a more in depth focus on individual subjects and a variety of enrichment opportunities including visits out and visitors into school.
At St. Christopher Catholic Primary school our long term plans and curriculum overview focuses on the use of Early years outcomes and ensuring that each child makes progress. This is done through relevant planning, which takes into consideration the interests and experiences of the children and assessment.
Previous planning, observation, assessment and the use of floor books and mind maps allow teachers to plan using their knowledge of children’s development, their interests and next steps. Mind maps (medium term plans) can be added to and adapted to suit the needs of the children and the lines of development/ interests the children take. Topics or themes are therefore not put into place over a certain number of weeks, rather they are delivered until either they run their course or the children pick up on a new interest.
Our Vision and Values
Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens.
