It is our aims to make learning irresistible and ensure that all our children, on leaving Llanishen Fach, are equipped with the essential transferrable skills required to enable them to become fulfilled lifelong learners. To this end, our highly motivated professional staff have embraced the Welsh Government’s ‘Successful Futures’ report and placed the ‘four key purposes’ at the heart of all that we do, with the aspiration that all our pupils becoming:

  • Ambitious, capable learners
  • Enterprising, creative contributors
  • Ethical, informed citizens
  • Healthy, confident individuals

As you will see, as you navigate our school’s website, we continue to develop and refine our learning and teaching approach, challenging ourselves and our pupils through the development of a rich and engaging curriculum. We use a combination of class teachers and specialist teachers to provide first-hand experiences, in particular the outdoors, to promote improved levels of wider skills, critical thinking, creativity and problem solving. We believe that our determination to invest time and resources, while keeping literacy and numeracy at the heart of our teaching, ensures skills are widely practiced and applied across the whole curriculum.

Play activities are provided in a happy, secure environment to combine maximum fun and interest, whilst developing children's own personalities and reaching their full potential. Staff will spend time individually with your child initiating learning and educational skills in preparation for school. Our pre-school curriculum is play based and aims to ensure that the children’s early learning is an enjoyable experience.

To promote a healthy lifestyle all children need regular exercise. Through activity children develop muscular strength, mobility and physical control as well as an awareness of themselves and the space in which they move. They learn to manipulate small and large equipment safely and with increasing control. Essential skills such as turn taking and working co-operatively with others are encouraged through physical development.
