Our form tutors work closely with their tutees and have an overview of academic progress and emotional well being. Each Year group is led by a Head of Year who has overall responsibility for the progress, monitoring, safety and welfare of students in the Year group.
Our trained team delivers play and art sessions to individuals and groups of students who may be dealing with personal issues such as bereavement or having difficulty engaging in lessons. Our THINC Room is designed to provide students with a comfortable, fun, safe haven in which to explore their difficulties and find solutions. Referrals are made through the Heads of Year and this resource is accessed by students in all Year groups. Student and parental feedback on the effects of these sessions for students continues to be extremely positive.
Doddle is a new online teaching and learning resource for students at CHS that will replace Frog learn as an online homework system. Doddle allows students to access and complete their homework online and it also has a bank of learning and revision materials that students can access at any time. Students will be given their passwords in form time. Students can change their password when they first log in. If a student forgets their password all members of staff are able to access or re-set passwords. Alternatively, students can go to Student Services.
The government has provided additional funding to schools to support young people from low-income families and to support them in achieving their best. This extra funding is determined by the proportion of pupils receiving Free School Meals.
Chorlton High School is committed to ensuring that all young people are supported to achieve their potential academically and to develop the skills and attributes necessary to succeed within Higher Education and future employment. This commitment is particularly important where young people experience cultural, social or financial disadvantage and the school seeks to use the funding offered through the Pupil Premium to better address the needs of these students.
Our Equalities Policy is in line with national guidance and contains information about how the school complies with the Public Sector Equality Duty. We also give guidance to staff and the wider school community on our approach to promoting equality. Our Equality Objectives reflect the school's priorities, our Cooperative values and draw upon available data and other evidence. Careful analysis of this is undertaken in order to ensure that we are working to achieve improved outcomes for different groups.
