Wardie Primary School

Welcome to Wardie Primary School Wardie is a fantastic school to love, learn and grow. We are set within the Trinity area of Edinburgh and part of the Trinity Academy Learning Community. In session, we refreshed our school’s Vision, Values and Aims. This refresh was done in partnership with our whole community.

Everything we do comes though our Values and Aims in order to deliver our Vision that all individuals are nurtured and championed to be the best they can be.

Our Values sit at the core of our community. They are;

Kindness, Respect and Resilience.

Our Aims incorporate the Wardie Way which is;

• A – Achieving; high quality learning and teaching
• R – Rights Respecting; The UNCRC is at the heart of our ethos
• D – Diverse and equitable; We celebrate individuality and actively support opportunities for all
• I – Inclusive; provide the right support at the right time
• E – Environmental. Our curriculum is relevant and sustainable; it promotes learning in and beyond the classroom

Scotland’s curriculum – Curriculum for Excellence helps our children and young people gain the knowledge, skills and attributes needed for life in the 21st Century.

Curriculum for Excellence places learners at the heart of education. At its centre are four fundamental capacities. These capacities reflect and recognise the lifelong nature of education and learning. The four capacities are aimed at helping children and young people to become:

• Confident individuals
• Responsible citizens
• Effective contributors

As part of their learner journey, all children and young people in Scotland are entitled to experience a coherent curriculum from 3 to 18, in order that they have opportunities to develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to adapt, think critically and flourish in today’s world.

The curriculum is defined as the totality of all that is planned for children and young people from early learning and childcare, through school and beyond. That totality can be planned for and experienced by learners across :
