We are a one form entry, Voluntary Aided School located in the heart of Roehampton since 1828. Our vision is to provide a high quality education for all our children, preparing them with skills for life and encouraging them to be well rounded individuals who are respectful, kind and tolerant of others.
Currently, we have 225 children on roll, from 3 to 11, Nursery to Year 6. Our staff are a team of experienced and passionate people who care about unlocking children’s potential and encouraging them to excel in all that they do. With a strong Christian ethos at the centre of our core, we are committed to providing a secure, happy and calm environment in which all children are able to thrive socially, emotionally and academically. Every child matters and our caring philosophy is at the heart of everything we do.
We have a very committed Governing board who play an active role in the life of the school and excellent relationships with the team clergy at our local church ‘Holy Trinity’. Although we are a church school we welcome children from all world faiths and currently have children from 40 different counties attending the school. This diversity is what makes Roehampton Church School the very special place it is.
Our Year 6 pupils in the 2014/15 academic year achieved the second highest SATs marks in Grammar, Spelling and Punctuation within the borough of Wandsworth. Last year, our Year 6 pupils outperformed national attainment averages in Writing and Grammar, Spelling and Punctuation. Our Year 2 pupils outperformed the national figures in reading, writing and maths in 2016. In addition to our academic performance in the national tests our gifted and talented programmes for Sports and Maths give our pupils enormous opportunities to compete with other schools both in and outside of the borough. Year 5 pupils in 2014/15 achieved a Silver Award in the National ‘Game of 24’ KS2 tournament and the RCS Netball team achieved 5th place in the borough competition, having won on several previous occasions. Moreover, we had children who had gained full scholarship over varies schools over the last few years.
At Roehampton Church School we aim to provide a safe, reflective and caring environment based on Christian teaching and principles. We work with all in our community to equip our children with the skills and understanding they need to make a purposeful and engaging contribution to society. To grow up feeling positive about themselves always striving to do the best they can.
The child’s first experience of school is important as it builds a lifelong love of learning. Roehampton Church School encourages the development of a close partnership with parents to support children at school and at home. We welcome parents / carers and the child to visit the school before the enrolment. It is a perfect opportunity to talk with our teachers and staff.
School charter and rules and Guiding principles
In the Foundation years, we emphasise the prime areas which are equally important to your child’s learning development. They are Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Communication and Language, Physical Development. We promote personal, social and emotional development, encouraging children to co-operate, know their own self-worth and show consideration and understanding towards others. Through active learning, children are encouraged to develop the skills they need to move forward confidently to the next stage of their learning. When they grow out of the prime areas, children continue to learn from the specific areas which provide important context for learning on essential skills and knowledge.
