Our focus is to provide the highest quality education to secure the best life chances for our students once they leave the Academy. A successful student will leave us prepared for their next stage in education or employment by understanding the world that we live in, being curious and keen to develop further by learning from others around them.

Our aims for each student are the same – to provide meaningful opportunities for them to learn, grow, develop and aspire, both academically and personally. We offer a wide range of courses. In addition to the traditional academic subjects, we offer vocational and work-related courses to prepare our students for their chosen careers.

We have a flourishing and vibrant Sixth Form which offers a gateway to university, apprenticeships or employment/training.

Unlike many schools we are non-selective as we believe that all students should have equal access to a good secondary education. This makes our results all the more remarkable and a testament to the quality of the teaching at the Academy. Last year our GCSE students achieved 66% A*-C including English and maths. Sixth Form students at the Academy achieved a 100% pass rate. Our Progress 8 score, which measures the progress a student makes during their time at the Academy, puts us in the top three secondary schools in Wandsworth.

Being part of our community will teach our students that their education, like life, is collaborative. Students will learn that tolerance, respect and good behaviour are key to their success, both in the classroom and outside of it. All students, no matter how academic they are, will do well at Southfields Academy. We provide support for those students who struggle academically and those who excel will be challenged.

By developing a love of learning in our students, we will inspire our students and prepare them for the next stage of their lives by embedding in them a knowledge that their aspirations and prospects should be no different from those of other young people.

At Southfields we aim to create a culture of tolerance and respect for others, where students and staff work together to improve. Our vision is to develop a provision that will secure the best life chances for our students once they leave Southfields Academy. This environment must inspire each individual in the community to be the very best that they can be. At Southfields we have the highest expectations of achievement and behaviour and offer a nurturing and supportive environment where we celebrate difference and ensure that everyone meets their full potential. We value every individual and commit to ensuring everyone feels supported and listened to.

We offer the highest quality educational experience, aiming to inspire a generation of lifelong learners, who take pride in their achievements and take ownership of their learning. We believe creativity and imagination are the key to developing future passions and talents. We have a positive, “can do” attitude, believing that the sky is our limit, and we will think creatively and innovatively to meet the needs of our learners and our community.

A successful Southfields student will be one that understands the world we live in and is curious and keen to develop further by learning from others around them. This student will leave Southfields ready for their next stage in education or employment, equipped to learn and to grow.

Southfields Academy has an outstanding and diverse curriculum which aspires to respond to the local and national agenda in order to ensure all our students receive a high quality learning experience at all times.

Our curriculum is the vehicle to allow our students to become

  • Confident and successful individuals who enjoy learning, make ambitious progress and achieve high quality and meaningful qualifications.
  • Responsible citizens who make a positive contribution to society including their local community and the wider international world in which they exist.

Our conversion to academy status enabled us to ensure that the needs of our students drive our curriculum provision at all times. Whilst confirming our commitment to the broad and balanced principles of the National Curriculumm we also celebrate and use our strengths to drive excellence and innovation.

We believe wholeheartedly that in order to access a broad and balanced curriculum, all students need to be confident and proficient in the basic skills of reading, writing, communication and mathematics and these are given the highest priority at all times.

Finally, we consider it critical that equal opportunities are promoted and realised at all levels of curriculum provision and that this is integral to outstanding practice. Whilst we provide extensive individual and small group withdrawal support where necessary, our curriculum is one which celebrates inclusion at all times and we firmly believe that our diversity as a school ultimately enriches and enhances our curriculum for the benefit of all.

The sixth form at Southfields Academy is a vibrant and rewarding place to study. Our A level examination results are on an accelerated upward trend and our vocational courses maintain their outstanding outcomes. Our study programmes aim to develop you as a whole person, equipped with the skills and qualities to achieve your personal and career goals. We encourage all students to recognise their potential and strive to develop their talents. Each year we carefully track the progress of our sixth form leavers - over 95% go on to positive destinations such as university, employment or apprenticeships. This is way above the national average.
