TPCU is located on the Guandu Plain at the foot of Datun Mountain. The school, picturesque as it appears, harbors a panoramic view of Taipei’s magnificent scenery, including attractions such as Taipei 101, the Mount Guanyin, and the Tamsui River. Surrounded by mountains and rivers, TPCU has made itself a distinguished university with the aim of cultivating elites. It has also become the ideal university for students because of its academic excellence.
TPCU contains three colleges: the College of Engineering, the College of Business and Management, and the College of Human Ecology. The academic programs of the school include master degree programs, four-year and two-year undergraduate programs, five-year and two-year junior college programs, and the programs of the Night Division for Continuing Education.
The abiding teaching principle of TPCU is "one diploma, two languages, three awards, and four certificates." What makes our teaching principle special is that TPCU graduates obtain specialized knowledge and certificates exclusively in addition to one diploma shared by graduates nationwide. First, TPCU graduates will not only receive a diploma from the Ministry of Education but also have a good command of “two languages,” Chinese and English. TPCU endeavors to enhance students’ Chinese writing ability as well as English speaking and listening proficiency for their competiveness in workplaces. Second, by “three national awards,” TPCU aims to consolidate the value of innovation. The school encourages students’ innovative experiments, their participation in national contests of inventions, and their application for official patents. Meanwhile, TPCU also emphasizes the cultivation of students' virtues and their respect for teachers. Students are asked to strive for the award of virtues in the hope that they are endowed with not only professional expertise but also moral excellence. Finally, by “four national certificates,” TPCU stresses the reinforcement of basic education and professional training. In each school year, each department chooses for students a specific certificate to obtain so as to reinforce students’ technical competence in industries.
To rise to new challenges of a new era, we will abide by the principle of “Education Based on Love” as well as the motto of TPCU, “Loyalty, Trust, Sincerity, and Respect.” Besides, we also stick to the all-round teaching policy of maintaining the balance between techno-science and humanities, between pragmatism and theories. We will lead all the faculty and students for a more promising future as TPCU finds itself standing conspicuously on the Guandu Plain and makes itself a university of academic excellence in the world.
There are 259 full time teachers. Our Vision is To be an outstanding polytechnic university of innovation, pragmatism, and invention. Our Objective are To elevate the teaching quality of pragmatism. To encourage vocation-oriented innovation. To create a campus of excellence and happiness. To be both localized and internationalized.
