welcome to Small Heath Leadership Academy, where we are dedicated to providing educational excellence for all of our students and committed to helping them to reach their full potential. Through our vision of “Nurturing today’s young people, inspiring tomorrow’s leaders,” we aim to create an environment where all of our students can flourish and develop into confident and successful citizens.

At Small Heath, we provide high standards of education with a focus not only on academic achievements, but also on the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of our students. Our Academy’s STAR values of Service, Teamwork, Ambition and Respect are at the core of everything we do and are represented in the way staff and students model themselves.

We have a culture of high expectations and we continuously encourage our students to aspire to be the best they can be. This is developed through a strong and supportive system of pastoral care provided by a dedicated team of Pastoral Leaders and form tutors.

Our students benefit from an academic curriculum that enables them to achieve high standards and broaden their skills and experience through enrichment activities. We take a personalised approach, where students are set aspirational, but achievable targets through a curriculum pathway that meets their individual needs. We promote fundamental British values and develop students’ understanding of rights and responsibilities in a diverse and democratic society where they can make a positive contribution.

Being the Executive Principal of Small Heath Leadership Academy is a privilege for me. By working with all of our stakeholders and with the support of you as our parents. The Local Accountability Board will work in close collaboration with Star Academies, the Academy’s Senior Leadership Team and the whole Academy community to ensure Small Heath delivers on its mission of educational excellence – not only in terms of ensuring continuous improvement for the Academy as a whole, but also in terms of meeting students’ individual needs and developing their unique talents.

The Local Accountability Board will offer support and challenge to the Academy’s Senior Leadership Team, monitoring progress and ensuring that effective strategic and operational systems are in place. We will work together to make our vision to nurture today’s young people and inspire tomorrow’s leaders a reality, and ensure that the standard of teaching and learning is of the best possible quality.

We want all of the Academy’s students to have access to an engaging and knowledge-rich curriculum and a wealth of rewarding leadership and enrichment opportunities. As well as encouraging students to secure excellent academic results, we also believe it is important for them to develop good character, and through promoting the STAR values of Service, Teamwork, Ambition and Respect, the Academy will provide them with opportunities to make a positive and lasting contribution to their communities through civic and charitable action. We will work closely with parents and ensure we are united in our aim to guarantee that every young person leaves Small Heath with positive memories, upstanding values, a sense of personal achievement and excellent prospects.
