Iselinge Hogeschool

Iselinge Hogeschool is an ambitious university of applied sciences in the east of the Netherlands. Even though it is a relatively small HEI, it is one of the three best-rated primary teacher training colleges in the Netherlands, according to the HBO Keuzegids 2018. Quality and innovation of education are greatly valued within the institution, just as personal attention for each student and collaboration with various partners involved in education (e.g. research institutes and primary schools). Iselinge Hogeschool has always been strongly anchored in the region, but for the last few years it has also aimed to look beyond the Dutch borders when it comes to good practices in education.

Iselinge Hogeschool is ambitious in realizing its own educational vision and boosting educational innovation in the region. We are an independent small-scale university with a strong regional solidarity and an inspiring national network. Iselinge University of Applied Sciences trains qualified, self-managing, socially enterprising, broadly oriented teachers who can play a central role in schools in the region (and beyond).

We offer a broad, differentiated education offer up to and including academic level, where we use professional networks. Our education is characterized by a solid knowledge base, innovative didactic choices and self-directed learning.

Iselinge Hogeschool:

• Has one specialization: the primary school teacher training (full-time, part-time, academic);
• Occupies an important position in the schools field of the Achterhoek and Liemers;
• Provides multiple degree programs such as Dalton education, physical education and various in-service training courses;
• Has about 400 students, of whom about 120 are first-year students in 2017;
• Has been positively assessed by the Dutch / Flemish Accreditation Organization (NVAO) and therefore accredited;
• Was founded in 1984 as a merger of Rijkspedagogische Akademie C. Kleywegt and the Groen van Prinsterer Kweekschool.

Students give Iselinge Hogeschool a good rating. This is evident from the educational reviews, the scores of the programs in the annual Keuzegids HBO, the annual Elsevier study 'The best studies' and satisfaction surveys among the students.
