IST University of Applied Sciences

The IST University of Applied Sciences is state approved by the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Research of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The equivalency of IST and State University degrees is, therefore, guaranteed. Bachelor and MBA programmes are accredited by the International Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (FIBAA). By awarding credit points according to the European Credit and Accumulation Transfer System (ECTS) academic achievements are internationally comparable and recognised.

The IST University of Applied Sciences offers management degree programmes in specialised areas sports business, fitness & health, tourism & hospitality, communication & management. The courses are characterised by both, high scientific quality and strong practical orientation.

The IST University of Applied Sciences benefits from the cooperation with the IST-Studieninstitut (study institute), which offers full and part time qualification possibilities for over 25 years. From the beginning, the focus of the IST study institute was on state recognised distance learning. Constantly evolving, this learning system is used by IST University as well. Nowadays online-lectures, webinars and other digital education materials enable students to study wherever and whenever they want. All lectures are produced in our own video-studio and study materials are constantly revised. Because of the innovative learning system, high quality education materials and the focus on specific business areas, the number of students is growing constantly.

Companies are acting more and more international. Germany is already an export world champion and many companies are world market leaders in their field. For the young generation, this represents a daily and increasingly important challenge. At the IST University of Management, we see internationalisation as an opportunity. It is part of our education policy and we therefore support our students, staff and professors in the expansion of their international experience.

We want to adjust teaching and research to the constantly and dynamically changing conditions of internationalization. For this reason, the university is taking part in the Erasmus+ programme and has several university partners all over the world. We are always interested in new partnerships.

We promote the language skills of our students through special online language courses and sector-specific modules in English and we consistently strive to enable our students and staff to expand their international experience.

Students are already able to study at the IST from all over the world. Students abroad have digital access to their whole educational materials and are also able to write their exams at Goethe Institutes in 98 countries.

Our ‘International Office’ provides administrative support and coordinates the internal posts. The ‘International Office’ is also the first port of call when it comes to advising and supporting the students, teachers and staff in international matters. Additionally professors assists the Steering Committee in the planning, preparation and implementation of international activities.
