Hannan University

Founded in 1965 on the principle of fostering students with a wide perspective of the world and a deep outlook on life, Hannan University's mission is to train modern economic professionals with a global outlook who can contribute to the development of a new economic society and the welfare of mankind. The university was established with the Faculty of Commerce and in 1972, it added the Department of Economics, and in 1986 the Department of Information Management.

Hannan University, as part of its overall vision for the future, has been implementing its plans for comprehensive campus improvement for a number of years, and will continue to do so in the future. Though the university is conveniently located, there have long been limitations of space on the campus. In April 2002, following the relocation of the High School, the campus almost doubled in size. A major rebuilding program followed and was completed in December 2004. We are confident that we have created a radically improved Campus environment that will make attending Hannan University attractive and enjoyable.

The Faculty of Commerce was reorganized and renamed in 1996, becoming the Faculty of Business, and the Faculty of Information Management was established. The Faculty of International Communication, with the Department of Cultural Communication (renamed Department of International Communication in April 2004) and the Department of International Tourism were established the following year in 1997. Hannan University had then become a university covering a broad range of social sciences.

The Hannan University Graduate School was established in 2000. In 2010, the Faculty of International Communication was reorganized, with the Department of International Tourism becoming an independent faculty, the Faculty of International Tourism. Today, Hannan University has five faculties, and a graduate school, with more than 5000 students.

Hannan University has improved and expanded its own unique systematic career education in order to help develop people equipped for what seems likely to be a turbulent 21st century. Career education at Hannan University has attracted attention, and is it is now known as a "university that focuses on practical education" in close collaboration with businesses and local communities. Hannan University hopes to make a social contribution by raising student satisfaction and enhancing support for students in finding employment, support in obtaining qualifications and support in choosing the best possible career, as well as providing a full, rounded curriculum and academic structures designed to respond to the needs of the age.

The main building library contains some 380,000 volumes, about 2,400 types of academic magazines and around 4,700 audio-visual material titles. The brightly lit spacious library is equipped with 750 chairs for reading. All students may use the library materials without restriction.

Hannan University's Information Technology Center seeks to provide full access to information technology for education and research in order to meet one of the university's educational goals of enabling students to play an active role in the information age.

Hannan University's International Programs Center actively promotes internationalization by preparing student exchange programs, working to increase the number of universities with which Hannan University has foreign exchanges agreements, enabling Hannan University students who are interested in foreign countries to experience the cultures and learn about those countries, through the school's foreign exchange programs and by accepting students from overseas to study at Hannan University.

Hannan University offers individual counseling from guidance counselors to students having difficulties with their studies. The university offers various scholarships to provide students with economic assistance. The school introduces students to boarding facilities that meet the university's conditions, which take educational matters into account, to facilitate a more comfortable campus life The university helps students find part-time work to help provide financial independence. Sympathetic counseling is provided so students can discuss any problems, anxieties or distresses that students may experience while studying at a university. The counseling is kept strictly confidential. The Hannan University Student Cooperative has been entrusted by the university to provide various services for students, such as managing the dining room, the school book store, etc.
