The British International School Riyadh (BISR) is an extremely well-regarded not-for-profit, five-campus, co-educational school in the Middle East, catering for students aged 3-18, providing high quality education to the expatriate community since 1979.
We, the students, parents, teachers and community of BISR, provide a caring, safe and stimulating environment where we strive to make every student feel valued, happy and successful.
The British International School Riyadh (BISR) has 1500 students, ages 3 to 18 learn at our Al Hamra campus, whilst our smaller Salwa campus is the educational home for 150 Primary students from ages 3-11. In August 2020 Tabuk and Taif Primary Schools, home to 60 and 30 students respectively, joined the BISR family. In September, our third campus in Riyadh, in the Diplomatic Quarter will expand from primary only to include senior school and sixth form years.
Approximately 50% of our students are British passport holders with over 52 different nationalities represented across the school. The school is accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and as a British School Overseas (BSO). BISR is also a member of the British Schools of the Middle East (BSME), the Independent Association of Preparatory Schools (IAPS) and the Council of British International Schools (COBIS). The school follows the English curriculum, greatly enriched by the local and international context. Learning is holistic, supported by a broad co-curricular programme, encompassing extra-curricular activities, house events, student leadership, service learning and residential trips. Strong pastoral care supports student well-being.
At BISR our vision and mission underpin all that we do, shaping the way that we approach the development of learning experiences, creation of our enrichment programmes and how we support student wellbeing. Our vision and mission were developed as a result of extensive consultation across our community, involving teachers, support staff, parents and students. Our REACH motto helps to make our vision and mission memorable and is something that we pride ourselves on modeling as a community.

After our child’s first year at BISR , I can happily say that it hasn’t disappointed. Excellent staff that educate and support the students. Zero tolerance on racism, discrimination and bullying. Supportive teachers who nurture and push their students to be and do their best. Tolerance for all nationalities and respect. Great friendships made. Academically very happy and our child is excelling. We look forward to the future together at BISR

As a student who went to BISR, I can say that the school is run by teachers who masterfully know the GCSE and A-level syllabus, and provide an inexhaustible resources to prepare for it.
Student diversity could not be higher. The system is oriented towards British education, but international awareness is surely a peak strength.Outdoor activities and travels are frequently facilitated. Their Duke of Edinburgh program is beyond life-changing, especially at the Silver level.

My Husband and I decided to put our son in the British School because we felt the education, structure and discipline was much better than other choices in Riyadh. As Americans we were welcomed with open arms and made to feel at home! I would highly recommend this school regardless of your nationality. Unfortunately I can tell you they have a wait list in many grades so sign up early!

As a former students, I really enjoyed my time at BISR. Lots of supportive teachers who I felt genuinely cared about my success. Also, there was a good balance between academics and extracurriculars. There was a real focus on preparing you for life after school, not just passing exams.
