Welcome to Deebing Heights State School! Deebing Heights State School implements the Australian Curriculum.

The Australian Curriculum sets consistent high standards for what all young Australians should learn as they progress through schooling. It prepares Australia’s next generation for the future and lays the building blocks for generations to come.

The Australian Curriculum focuses on learning area content and achievement standards that describe what students will learn and teachers will teach. It also gives attention to seven general capabilities that are important for life and work in the 21st century and to three issues identified in the Melbourne Declaration as needing more attention than they have received in curricula to date. The general capabilities and the cross-curriculum priorities are not added as additional subjects. They are dealt with, where relevant, through the learning area content on which the curriculum is built.

At Deebing Heights State School, we provide many opportunities for our students to hold positions of leadership. Student leadership positions are held in high esteem by the Principal, staff, fellow students, parents, careers and the general community.

The positions available for students include School Captains, House Captains and Student Councilors for Years 4 & 5. The processes involved with the selection of each, vary with the position.

Deebing Heights State School hosts the annual ‘Deebing’s Got Talent’. The event provides a great opportunity for students to exhibit their talent, creativity, presentation skills and team work in the case of group performances. Students audition in different heats with the winners from each heat announced to take their place in the final. This lively competition brings together a great showcase of performers.

The Deebing Heights State School Musical provides great opportunities for students to exhibit their talent and creativity through the means of singing, dancing and acting. Students learn and practice many skills such as confidence, resilience, public speaking, communication and team work all while making new friendships.

Parents can be involved in a range of school activities such as assisting in the classroom, helping with excursions and camps, or offering their expertise to help organize extracurricular activities such as sports carnivals and musicals. At Deebing Heights State School, we understand parents/careers are busy people, but we encourage them to attend school events, such as parades, sports days, etc.
