Hanoi – Amsterdam High School

During the turbulent days of 1972, Hanoi was seriously damaged by B52, and the citizens of Amsterdam (Netherlands) were so concerned about the city that they wanted to do something to show their support of the indomitable Vietnamese. The mayor of Amsterdam, encouraged Amsterdam's residents to donate the money with a view to presenting Hanoi with a well-equipped high school after the Victory Day. The result of that philanthropic and munificent is a newly- born Hanoi - Amsterdam, School for the gifted.

Students at Hanoi - Amsterdam high school not only possess a solid background of knowledge but also excel at social and cultural activities with a great number of awards and medals on both national and international scale. Many of the school’s alumni have become professors, doctors, businessmen and philanthropists, devoting their talents to the development of the nation. In the last 25 years, Hanoi - Amsterdam High School's teaching crew have also earned remarkable achievements.

Hanoi - Amsterdam High School frequently shares the experience and techniques with other specialised high schools. We also set relations with many high schools, colleges and universities all over the world: INSA (France), University of Connecticut (the U.S.), Bellereys Colleges (Australia), Nam Ninh University (China), or Nayang High School (Korea). Being established and developed during the renovation of the country, for nearly 25 years, Hanoi - Amsterdam specialised high school has created itself a right direction to become the key specialised high school of the nation with international - standard quality!

Hanoi – Amsterdam High School is always aware of its great responsibility, and it constantly makes amazing progress to become a leading professional school in Vietnam. It is often associated with the renowned standard training program, the high-quality and advanced educational methods as well as the ability to capture improvements in education, apply the achievements of science and information technology development in line with current world-class educational trends. The objectives of our education are:

• Equip students with firm knowledge of science; meet with all requirements and criteria for academic evaluation of the Ministry of Education and Training.
• Provide solid knowledge and help students develop scientific methods of studying. Students will often easily integrate into the extensive training courses of renowned universities and colleges in Vietnam and in the world.
• Train excellent students in order to achieve high prizes and awards in exams for gifted students nationwide and worldwide. The students will become creative human resources who are able to adapt to any changes in the world and contribute enormously to the development of a civilised and prosperous Vietnam.
• Create an open environment, encourage creativity, reasoning ability, thinking capacity and autonomy of the students.
• Train students to be comprehensively developed future citizens who are physically healthy, strongly intellectual and morally humane. Students will also know how to take responsibility for themselves, their families and society to meet all requirements of the period of international integration of the country.

In the future, Hanoi - Amsterdam specialised high school will focus more on innovating manners and principles in organising educational activities, building teaching methods according to the rules of formation along with students’ cognitive and personality development, helping students define a solid traditional value system so as not to lose personal identity in the process of global integration. Moreover, the school strives to become one of friendship and acculturation: concentrating more on expanding the scale and quality of international training, creating exchange and twinning programs with friends around the globe; building training programs that link, exchange students and teachers with countries all over the world in order to increase mutual learning opportunities, develop teaching capacity of the faculty and learning capacity of students.
