Francis Parker School is a private, independent, coeducational, college preparatory day school for students in Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12 from across San Diego County. Founded in 1912, the Lower School is located on the Mission Hills Campus with the Upper and Middle Schools on the Linda Vista Campus. Parker's mission is to inspire a diverse community of independent thinkers whose academic excellence, global perspective and strength of character prepare them to make a meaningful difference in the world.

Parker is a community of people who are deeply invested in preparing each child to live meaningful, fulfilling lives in an increasingly global society. We start by providing exceptional academic instruction, thus positioning students to develop intellectual curiosity. Along the way, character education is embedded into the curriculum so that students develop instincts for personal responsibility, self-reliance, and social awareness.

In the Middle and Upper Schools, our Global Studies Program immerses students in cultural field studies, allowing them to become true citizens of the world. All of this happens in a nurturing, college-going culture where 100 percent of our graduates are accepted to four-year colleges and universities.

Parker is an inclusive and diverse community. We believe a broad range of viewpoints, cultures, and voices are essential to a whole-child educational experience. We welcome you to come see what makes Parker one of the most desirable independent schools in the country. Our doors are always open.

The mission of Francis Parker School is to create and inspire a diverse community of independent thinkers whose academic excellence, global perspective and strength of character prepare them to make a meaningful difference in the world.

Francis Parker School is committed to graduating students who embody those qualities essential for academic success and personal fulfillment — intellectual curiosity, creative thinking, passion for learning, ethical responsibility, self-reliance, community engagement, and global competence — by offering a balanced, challenging and integrated Junior Kindergarten - Grade 12 educational program in academics, athletics and the arts, all in a vibrant and diverse school community. At Parker we are committed to developing students:

  • Who strive for academic excellence while maintaining social and emotional well-being and balance
  • Who are able to participate in the fundamental human conversation on what is right, fair, and good by developing the necessary skills, aptitude, and imagination
  • Who are able to think critically, write persuasively, and communicate confidently
  • Who are familiar with the cultural, political, historical, scientific, ethical, and economic forces shaping the world
  • Who possess the tools necessary to realize their individual talents and potential in their academic and professional lives
  • Who embrace the larger world through meaningful, age-appropriate opportunities for experiential education
  • We will bring the world into our classrooms through sustainable relationships with local businesses and universities, visiting faculty and lecturers, and web-based collaboration. We will take our classrooms out to the world through meaningful, age-appropriate opportunities for experiential education, service learning, environmental awareness, and character education.

Parker has a deep commitment to building a School community that is truly global in perspective, diverse in composition and reflective of our world. Our goal is to be one community where all members feel valued, included and respected. At Parker, we know our learning environment is enhanced by the different stories, backgrounds and experiences of each member of our School community. We are one community composed of many families representing a broad range of viewpoints, cultures and backgrounds. We all learn from each other.
