Welcome to the French-American School of New York’s. Founded in 1980 as a 17-student preschool, FASNY has evolved to become a premier bilingual and international N-12 day school with global reach. Our dedicated staff of teachers and administrators is committed to creating an environment that is nurturing yet challenging, one that encourages students to flourish intellectually, emotionally, and ethically.
We have a diverse parent body—our families represent more than 50 nationalities—as well as an active parent-teacher association that provides myriad opportunities to get involved in the life of the school. In addition, our proximity to New York City allows us to take advantage of the rich cultural and recreational offerings of one of the world’s great urban centers.
The French-American School of New York (FASNY) is an international, independent, coeducational day school providing a global education to approximately 800 students in nursery (3 years old) through grade 12. We are located just twenty miles north of Manhattan (35 minutes by train from Grand Central Station) and nine miles south of Greenwich, Connecticut.
FASNY is the only school in the New York metropolitan area accredited to offer both the International Baccalaureate and the French baccalaureate. All of our students also graduate with a New York State high school diploma.
FASNY nurtures creative, open-minded, critical thinkers to become lifelong learners motivated to lead, contribute and thrive in an ever-changing world. We focus on the learning and well-being of our students in an academically rigorous, multicultural, bilingual setting that brings together the best of American, French and International education.
We value an inclusive community where everyone is seen, heard and feels respected.
In connection with the FASNY mission, we are committed to equity and inclusion across age, cultural tradition, race, ethnicity, gender, nationality, physical ability, religion, sexual orientation, and socio-economic position in order to support all of our students’ learning and well-being. We strive to build and nurture a culture where the inclusion and empowerment of diverse voices among faculty staff, students, and FASNY families is a way of life and not an initiative.
Being a school with an international focus, we draw strength from the diverse perspectives of our community, and ensure diverse voices are included in decision-making and shaping of school culture. To benefit from our inherent diversity, FASNY must ensure that everyone feels included, valued, and respected inside and outside of the classroom. Our school is more than a place that sets ambitious academic goals for our students, it is a place where our students feel safe, cherished, and empowered, and where their ongoing well-being is of paramount importance.
In our ever-changing world, our work to promote Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion will continue to evolve in order to support our commitment to a safe and inclusive school environment for all.
