Kanto International Senior High School, located in central Tokyo, was founded in 1924 by Ms. Hamako Matsudaira. It is a private three-year coeducational high school with three departments: the Department of General Education, the Department of Foreign Studies and the Department of Performing Arts.

Kanto was one of the first high schools in Japan to offer an education that connects its students to the world, as guided by our school philosophy. For many years it has continued to develop its international outlook as pioneers of global education in Japan.

At its foundation is a unique set of language programs taught by Native teachers in collaboration with our Japanese teaching staff. Beginning with the English program, created through extensive collaboration between Native and Japanese teachers of English, we have further expanded to include programs in Chinese, Russian, Korean, Thai, Indonesian and Vietnamese.

Kanto aims to prepare young people to be active members of our global society by taking part in international exchanges with likeminded schools located around the World.Kanto aims to broaden students' horizons by helping them to understand the cultural, historical and educational environments of Japan and other countries.Kanto aims to foster a spirit of friendship and mutual respect essential to being an active contributor to the international community.

In an increasingly interconnected world, we are forced to live and work in an environment that calls for a global perspective in all that we do.A rapid growth of technology has created a world where we must reach past our immediate cultural boundaries and behavioral patterns to include a set of standards that can help us to function in multiple cultural settings and in inter-disciplinary fields. To succeed in an international community means that we must continually stay in tuned to standards that are created, be a part of the creation process itself by demonstrating the ability to voice our own set of values in an international context and to incorporate the knowledge we gain by making what we learn about the world, a part of ourselves and a part of our lives. As international citizens we must learn all we can about the world by creating a network of friendships that constantly broaden our perspectives, and to adopt the attitude that as responsible globally minded leaders of our future, together all things are possible.

Our unique English learning experience caters to the needs of all courses in the school including the Science Course, Asian Language Courses as well as in the Japanese Culture Course and aims to assist students in obtaining the Eiken and TOEFL results needed for entrance to Universities and beyond.

We take great pride in welcoming you to an exceptionally charming school, both to our centrally located Shibuya campus and spacious campus in Katsuura. In Katsuura, you will have the opportunity to choose one area of study to specialize over three years in order to more deeply understand and appreciate the topic. At Katsuura, you will have the chance to learn with students from around the world and become more open with yourself and others.

Kanto International Senior High School is situated near the high-rise buildings of Shinjuku. In addition to homerooms, other facilities include science, sewing, music, computer and dance rooms, a library and a gymnasium.

We are proud of our other campus, the Katsuura Training Center, which is located in Katsuura, Chiba, and overlooks the Pacific Ocean. The expansive site is approximately 370,000m2 and has classrooms, dormitories, cafeteria, gymnasium, pool and a farm. Within this wonderful environment all of our students experience a week-long stay twice a year.
