St Peters Lutheran College is one of Queensland’s leading private schools, offering excellence in Christian co-education from Prep-Year 12. Since 1945, the College has boasted a positive, holistic approach to education. With high standards of academic excellence; multiple pathways; comprehensive sports programs; internationally renowned music programs and state-of-the-art facilities, St Peters is a place where all students can excel.

The St Peters difference is marked by a strong sense of community. Forged, originally, through initiatives like our iconic outdoor education program, Ironbark, this notion of unbreakable bonds continues well after graduation, through our St Peters Old Scholars Association (SPOSA). The connections made at St Peters stay with our students for life.

Welcome to St Peters Lutheran College—a Prep to Year 12 co-educational day and boarding school that provides a quality, balanced education in a caring environment, underpinned by strong Christian values.

What is important about any school is what is at its heart. The heartbeat of our College is the gracious love of God. God’s presence, at St Peters, ensures that every student is loved, respected and cared for.

In living our mission, Excellence in Christian Co-education, all in our College community are encourages to strive 'Ever Higher'. This is consistent across all aspects of learning and, indeed, all aspects of school life, as expressed in our College motto: 'Plus Ultra'.

At St Peters we value a quality, holistic educational experience. Each child is challenged and nurtured through innovative curriculum and learning, cocurricular pursuits and service learning opportunities. They’re encouraged to use their gifts and talents for personal growth and service to others.

We seek to educate the hearts, minds and hands of our students in a safe and nurturing environment. We want our students to strive ever higher to be life-long learners and critical, creative thinkers. We want our students to have the courage to seek new horizons and the compassion to make a difference in a rapidly changing world.

St Peters Lutheran College was established by the Lutheran Church in 1945. With 56 boarding students, the College opened its doors on a parcel of land in Brisbane’s western suburbs—the exact spot that the Indooroopilly campus sits on today!

Through the generosity and vision of its founders, and through the stability in leadership, St Peters has grown to be the largest Lutheran school in Queensland. There have been just seven Heads of College since its inception and, the iconic Ross Roy House (the only building in early College life) still stands tall today.

St Peters has grown in leaps and bounds since 1945. In 1973, demands saw the need for a Lower Primary school to be constructed at Indooroopilly (now our Prep and Primary Years site), and in 1978, an Upper Primary school was built.

In 1974, the iconic St Peters Lutheran College Ironbark program was first introduced, near Crows Nest in Queensland. Initially established as a trial program, this visionary, life-changing outdoor education program has continued to be a staple for St Peters students since 1976. Currently, Ironbark is held over a five-week period. Students in Year 9 live and breathe country life, learning invaluable lessons about personal strength, team work, Christian values, outdoor survival skills, and how to run a farm.

Between the 1990s and 2000s, St Peters Indooroopilly underwent a lot of changes. Catering for the demands of new enrolments over the years, the campus has seen the introduction of a Pre-school, a Junior School and a Middle School for Years 6-7.

In 2007, with the change of Education Queensland’s approach, the Junior High sub-school structure was introduced. To this day, Junior High caters specifically for the developmental needs of students from Years 7-9. The current school structure at Indooroopilly includes Prep, Primary Years (Lower Primary and Upper Primary), Junior High and Senior School.

St Peters Springfield is the latest addition to the St Peters Lutheran College mix. Established in 2008 as a Prep-Year 8 school, the campus now caters for students from Kindergarten-Year 12. All St Peters schools operate under the guidance of the St Peters Lutheran College Council and Head of College. They are governed by the Lutheran Church of Australia Queensland District. The Strategic Vision 2016-2020 sets out what St Peters Lutheran College seeks to achieve over the coming years. It outlines that we will do this through Academic and Holistic Education, Ministry Outreach, International Connections, Community Engagement and Organisational Capability.

St Peters Lutheran College is owned and operated by the Lutheran Church of Australia Queensland District (LCAQLD) and governed by a College Council. This council is elected by the LCAQLD Synod. The St Peters College Council meets regularly and receives reports from the Head of College, who oversees the daily management and operation of St Peters.

St Peters Indooroopilly and St Peters Springfield are part of an Australia-wide system of Lutheran pre-primary, primary and secondary schools, called Lutheran Education Australia (LEA). Approximately 40,000 students are enrolled in LEA. St Peters Lutheran College is the largest Lutheran school in Australia.
