Founded in 1920, today’s Bentley proudly welcomes 700 students representing 66 zip codes. Embracing a vision of transformative learning and a culture of excellence, Bentley still holds the values of its founders while offering cutting edge programs on two beautiful campuses. With rich enhancements in course offerings, we are preparing today’s students for bright futures.

Throughout their time at Bentley, students are challenged and supported by talented and passionate faculty, dedicated administrators, and classmates who value and respect diverse perspectives. Our students develop deep intellectual curiosity and awareness of their responsibilities as citizens. Though each will embark on his or her own unique path, every Bentley graduate shares the knowledge that he or she is able to make a real difference in the world of tomorrow.

Students in our Lower School enjoy an environment in which they are encouraged by their teachers to explore new academic and social frontiers in a safe environment. Middle School students gain healthy confidence and character as they boldly expand their learning with elective courses in preparation for the Upper School.

In the Upper School, students take great pride in challenging themselves and supporting one another academically while also developing and deepening their values and interests in and beyond the classroom. Guided by excellent advisors, teachers, and college counselors throughout their four years, Bentley graduates move into distinguished universities and colleges throughout the country and across the world, and lead balanced lives of success and purpose.

Bentley students are fearless learners and inspired individuals. All divisions encourage respectful and kind treatment of others, emphasizing inclusion in activities and friendship. Our students take pride in old and new school traditions, and enjoy opportunities to show their Phoenix spirit together, whether it’s in weekly Town Hall meetings, drama productions, or athletic events.

Located on six acres in the beautiful Oakland Hills, Bentley offers a "home away from home" feeling while promoting excellence in teaching and learning for the youngest members of our community. Teachers encourage students to celebrate their successes, take risks, and learn from their failures. The many forms of diversity our families represent, including diversity of thought, creates new traditions in a culture of shared values including respect, excellence, and care.

The pastoral nine-acre campus showcases a state of the art playing field with Athletic and Student Centers as the backdrop for four exciting and challenging years. Upper School students engage in numerous endeavors here, whether in the classroom, on the field, in the science labs, on stage, or in the Lab working on underwater ROV's. Each student is expected to both do their best academically and understand their role in the well-being of the community. Advising and college Counseling, which begin in ninth grade, guide students to develop an academic and co-curricular road map to prepare them for colleges and universities of their choice locally, nationally, and internationally.

At Bentley, excellence in teaching and learning is our primary focus as we carry out our commitment to our students’ academic growth. We encourage authentic, person-to-person connections in and out of the classroom. Recognizing that technology is increasingly part of our lives, our goal is to create an interactive learning space while helping students to navigate the privileges and perils of the plugged-in life. We believe that encouraging our students to use technology judiciously and effectively fosters long term growth, discipline, and success.

Technology is an exploratory tool which facilitates learning, opens us to new worlds and information, and is a means to investigate a virtually limitless universe. Balancing the use of technology with the merits of learning by doing, our students discover the many ways in which learning takes place. Bentley offers a combination of computer labs on both campuses, Chromebooks, Laptop carts, iPads, and a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) model, allowing our faculty to utilize the appropriate tool for individual students and lessons. Bentley leverages technology in the classroom as a mechanism for learning, collaboration, communication, and excitement. All of our classrooms are equipped with audio-visual aids which allow the classroom experience to become a collaborative environment for our students.
