Louisville Collegiate School

Louisville Collegiate School has a long tradition of academic excellence and creativity within an exceptionally warm and supportive environment. Louisville Collegiate School is divided into Lower School (Jr. Kindergarten-Grade 5), Middle School (Grades 6-8) and Upper School (Grades 9-12). Each division has its own administrative head and core faculty. Many faculty members teach in more than one division of the school. The students and faculty enjoy the advantages of a small school environment while benefiting from the stimulation a college preparatory school can provide. The atmosphere at Collegiate is shaped by the close interaction of the student body and a sense of community within the school.

Founded in 1915, Collegiate provides a curriculum designed to prepare students to innovate, think empathetically, and thrive in an increasingly complex world. Small class sizes allow teachers to know children and provide an educational experience to meet each student where they are academically. Our vibrant learning program begins with a preschool experience that provides a balance of classroom learning with imaginative play and culminates with an internship to integrate academic learning with real-world experience. Our graduates possess extraordinary academic foundations, leadership skills, and a moral compass necessary to become engaged and compassionate leaders.

Collegiate’s campus, in the heart of Louisville’s historic Cherokee Triangle neighborhood, includes a new performing and visual arts center, state of the art library and maker education center, and athletic facilities for students to explore their academic, artistic, and athletic potential.

The goals, rationale, and vision contained in Collegiate’s five-year Strategic Plan (2017-2022) are a direct result of the work done in the two years leading up to its publication. Faculty, staff, administration, trustees, alumni, and Collegiate families provided input and feedback during the process. The Strategic Plan serves as a compass that will help us maintain our direction and focus on what is essential to achieve our mission. The Board of Trustees and the administration of the school will refer to the Strategic Plan at regular intervals each school year to ensure that our goals are congruent with our outcomes.
